Siegwerk is expanding its operations in the United States and Canada through targeted investments aimed at increasing production capacity, improving operational efficiency, and advancing sustainable infrastructure.
The investments form part of Siegwerk’s strategic agenda, Formula 2030, under which the company said it is committing to modernizing and expanding its global production network to strengthen competitiveness and create long-term value for customers. “Formula 2030 is about translating our global strategic direction into concrete regional initiatives that create value for our customers and strengthen our business over the long term,” said Christopher van Laack, president Americas and group executive member at Siegwerk. “By further expanding our regional production network and technology capabilities, we are creating an even more resilient supply base for our customers across the United States and Canada.” According to the company, the latest investments in the region are focused on expanding production capabilities, increasing flexibility, and improving operational resilience.
At Siegwerk’s site in Des Moines, Iowa, several projects are underway to expand capacity and improve operational efficiency. These include the modernization of milling and blending equipment, along with the implementation of new white and color production systems. The company said the new systems will enable inline batch production, increasing operational flexibility and supporting its ability to meet evolving customer needs and future growth. Siegwerk also broke ground on a new warehouse building in early June, which will provide additional storage capacity, primarily to support the site’s solvent-based operations and meet demand for flexible packaging solutions.
The company said the facility will also provide flexibility for future expansion as market needs evolve. “With these investments, we strengthen our ability to deliver the quality, reliability and responsiveness our customers expect,” said Jarred Carter, business unit head, flexible packaging, CUSA, at Siegwerk. “At the same time, the new assets not only increase our operational flexibility today, but also provide the capacity needed to support our customers’ growth in the future.”
At its Morganton, North Carolina site, Siegwerk is expanding its technology capabilities by adding water-based and UV-based inkjet production, scheduled for completion in 2026. The company said this investment will broaden its capabilities in one of the packaging industry’s fastest-growing technologies. Additional investments in new milling and blending equipment will strengthen Siegwerk’s narrow web portfolio in the region.
The site will also install solar panels funded through Siegwerk’s Green Fund, allowing it to partially power operations with renewable energy and contribute clean electricity to the local grid, according to the company. Further facility and IT upgrades are also planned to enhance operational efficiency and customer support. “Our customers expect solutions that combine performance, efficiency and a credible sustainability perspective,” said Todd Blumsack, business unit head, narrow web, CUSA, at Siegwerk. “The investments in Morganton reflect exactly that balance.”
The company said the latest investments in the United States and Canada reflect how it is translating its Formula 2030 strategy into regional actions in response to market dynamics, customer requirements, and regulatory developments. Siegwerk stated that continued investment in capacity expansion, operational efficiency, and sustainable infrastructure is aimed at strengthening its long-term competitiveness and its position as a supplier of printing solutions to the packaging industry.
