-

Bixolon Europe, a subsidiary of Bixolon, a leading global mobile, label, and POS printer manufacturer, has launched its new XD5-40II series in Europe, a next-generation 4-inch (118 mm) desktop label printing solution engineered for versatility across manufacturing, retail, logistics, healthcare and more. Building on the success of its predecessor, the XD5-40II delivers enhanced performance, greater efficiency, and improved user experience, cementing Bixolon’s position as a leading innovator in the label printing market.

The XD5-40II series is available in direct thermal (XD5-40IId) and thermal transfer (XD5-40IIt) models delivering high-performance printing for medium-volume applications across logistics, retail, and healthcare. Offering print speeds of up to 8 ips, at a resolution up to 300 dpi and a large 512 MB SDRAM / 512 MB Flash memory, the compact clamshell printer ensures efficient, reliable operations. User convenience is central to its design, with intuitive menu buttons and an optional 2-inch LCD simplifying setup and ongoing management.

Key capabilities of the XD5-40II include wide software and language compatibility, supporting SLCS, BPL-Z, BPL-E, and smart switch programming language, label design support through Label Artist-II, Label Artist Web, and Label Artist Mobile. Plus mobile printing readiness, including the mPrint App, Web Print SDK, and XPM web-based device management. USB host port for direct connection of memory sticks, scanners, keyboards, and other peripherals. Twin Function cloning for quick duplication of printer settings across multiple devices. Enhanced ribbon handling with a push-up/pull-down mechanism supporting both 74 m and 300 m ribbons. Tool-less maintenance, adjustable media guides, and easy media loading for reduced downtime. Smart media detection for automatic recognition of gap, black mark, continuous, and notch label formats, plus automatic skipping of empty labels. Optimised performance with B-ribbon supplies, to ensure consistent print quality and increased productivity.

XD5-40IItR – RFID label printer

The XD5-40IItR RFID model enhances tracking accuracy and supply-chain visibility with UHF RFID encoding and printing capabilities. It supports a broad spectrum of RFID tags and inlays, offering precise encoding performance, advanced anti-collision technology, and user-friendly RFID calibration tools. This makes the XD5-40II RFID ideal for applications requiring item-level tagging, inventory management, and real-time asset monitoring.

XD5-40II healthcare

Designed to meet the requirements of European medical environments, the XD5-40II Healthcare models come with all the capabilities of the direct thermal (XD5-40IId H) and thermal transfer (XD5-40IIt H) models plus feature IEC 60601-1 compliant power supplies for safe use in patient care areas, along with disinfectant-ready, antimicrobial casings built to withstand frequent cleaning. Their UV-resistant enclosures ensure durability under repeated sterilisation or UV exposure. These enhancements make the Healthcare versions ideal for patient ID wristbands, specimen and diagnostic test labeling, pharmacy dispensing, and healthcare asset tracking, supporting improved patient safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

“The XD5-40II series represents our commitment to delivering reliable and innovative printing solutions tailored to the evolving needs of European businesses,” said Paul Kim, managing director, Bixolon Europe. “With advanced performance, RFID capabilities, and dedicated Healthcare models, the XD5-40II reinforces Bixolon’s mission to provide customers with industry-leading technology that enhances productivity and operational efficiency.”
