In cooperation with Hoffmann Neopac, thyssenkrupp Rasselstein has achieved another step towards climate neutrality. The two companies signed a letter of intent that ensures the long-term supply of the new CO2-reduced bluemint rasselstein packaging steel by thyssenkrupp Rasselstein.

With the CO2-reduced material, Hoffmann Neopac once again aims to expand its product portfolio and include CO2-reduced cans.

Expansion of the supply of CO2-reduced packaging steel

Following a successful joint project with the herbal sweets manufacturer Ricola in 2022, Hoffmann Neopac will be using the agreed bluemint rasselstein quantities in order to convert other customers to CO2-reduced tinplate packaging. Hoffmann Neopac supplies customers worldwide with products from the baby food, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and wellbeing sectors.

The signed letter of intent means that both thyssenkrupp Rasselstein and Hoffmann Neopac are playing a key part in the climate-friendly steel-added value chain. “The production of CO2-reduced steel is a major contributing factor in achieving our sustainability goals,” said Dr. Peter Biele, CEO, thyssenkrupp Rasselstein. thyssenkrupp intends to make its production climate neutral by no later than 2045.

Can production with 100% renewable electricity

“Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We are so happy to have thyssenkrupp as a partner that wants to work with us on climate-neutral packaging,” explained Mark Aegler, CEO of Hoffmann Neopac. “We have already managed to implement some CO2-reduced packaging in the Hoffmann Neopac Group. We produce our cans and tubes in Switzerland with 100% electricity from renewable sources while working on our own decarbonization program.”
