Sun Chemical launches GIO-compliant SolarFlex FSP UV flexo inks

-

Sun Chemical has launched an upgraded SolarFlex FSP UV flexographic ink range for label and packaging manufacturers, designed to offer a food-compliant solution that meets evolving regulatory requirements. The company said the range delivers the productivity, print quality and low migration performance required by the packaging market.

According to the company, the upgraded formulation meets or exceeds the requirements of the German Ink Ordinance (GIO) and the Swiss Ink Ordinance (SIO) through selected raw materials and low migration performance. It is suitable for labels, sleeves and packaging applications.

The formulation is also said to offer low odor, good printability, low viscosity and fast curing, supporting the high print speeds and productivity required in the label and packaging sectors. Sun Chemical stated that the inks help protect product integrity by minimizing the risk of migration, flavor transfer and odor contamination.

The range is available in standard and intense four-color, expanded color gamut process inks, as well as high-strength mono-pigmented blending colors. This allows label and packaging manufacturers to meet a broad spectrum of brand color and packaging requirements.

The SolarFlex FSP UV flexo inks have undergone trials and validations at key label and packaging customers across Europe, including migration testing and odor assessments at printing speeds above 200 meters per minute. The company said the results confirmed high-speed production capability while meeting compliance requirements for the upcoming GIO and other regulations and guidelines.

The launch forms part of Sun Chemical’s broader commitment to supporting the labels and packaging industry with migration-compliant solutions that help customers prepare for current and upcoming regulatory requirements.

Jonathan Sexton, product manager, energy curing, Sun Chemical, said, “Packaging regulations continue to evolve across Europe, creating new challenges for manufacturers and brand owners. Our next-generation SolarFlex FSP inks have been developed to help customers remain compliant without compromising performance and output. The upgraded formulation fully meets increasingly strict regulations and enables packaging manufacturers and brand owners to achieve their sustainability objectives.”
