Cosmo Films unveils packaging films for pet food

-

Cosmo Films has expanded its flexible packaging portfolio in India with the launch of a new range of advanced packaging films designed specifically for the pet food industry, addressing the growing demand for safe, high-performance packaging solutions in this rapidly developing segment.

Cosmo Films introduced specialized BOPP (Bi-axially Oriented Polypropylene), CPP (Cast Polypropylene), and BOPET (Bi-axially Oriented Polyester) films developed for pet food applications such as dry kibble, wet pet food, treats and ready-to-eat products. One of the key additions is a high heat-resistant TR-BOPP transparent film capable of withstanding temperatures up to 185°C while offering uniform linear tear performance. This film is positioned as an alternative to conventional PET-based print layers commonly used in pet food packaging.

The new portfolio also includes anti-fog transparent BOPET lidding films and COPET-coated BOPET films that are designed to enhance adhesion and machinability during packaging operations. In addition, coated metallised BOPET films provide strong oxygen and moisture barrier properties, helping preserve product freshness and shelf life. For brands seeking alternatives to aluminum foil, Ultra High Barrier metallised BOPP films are part of the range, while retort-grade CPP films support high-temperature processing required for ready-to-eat pet food products.

Commenting on the launch, Pankaj Poddar, group CEO of Cosmo First, said, “The pet food category is evolving rapidly, and packaging must evolve with it. With this expansion, we are leveraging our deep specialty films expertise and applying critical insights gained from building Zigly, our fast-growing pet care business. Our direct understanding of pet parent consumer behavior and product requirements enables us to engineer packaging films that deliver superior safety, barrier performance, convenience, and brand differentiation. This is a strategic category for the future, and we are committed to supporting its growth with world-class solutions.”

The newly launched pet food packaging films are manufactured in compliance with global food safety standards, including FSSC 22000 certification and FDA-compliant structures.
