Toyochem Specialty Chemical, a member of Japan’s artience Group, has received HACCP and Codex Alimentarius Commission certification for its food packaging manufacturing processes. The company also renewed its GMP certification, confirmed by TÜV NORD CERT in August 2026. Both certifications fall under Category I: Production of Packaging Material and cover its portfolio of water-based coatings.
Quality management
The company said the two certifications strengthen its quality framework. GMP certification covers operational hygiene, while the new HACCP certification introduces a process-driven system to proactively eliminate hazards in food-contact packaging coatings. According to the company, the certifications reinforce its food safety and quality assurance capabilities and give brand owners greater assurance. Toyochem Specialty Chemical is expanding its footprint and developing new business opportunities in the global food packaging sector.
Barrier coatings
The company’s water-based coatings are offered as alternatives to traditional PE lamination and extrusion. Three series are covered under the certifications. The FC series is said to deliver high oil and water resistance for lunch boxes, burger wraps and paper cups, with select grades supporting heat-sealing. The VTR series features a water vapor barrier (WVTR) for applications such as paper pouches. The HSL series is a food-compliant primer that enhances lay-flat properties and minimizes leakage at creases and folds.
Material safety
According to the company, its water-based coatings are produced under strict control points that eliminate migration and contamination risks for packaging manufacturers and brands.
“Achieving HACCP certification directly addresses our customers’ evolving demands for uncompromising material safety,” said Robin Loke, technical director at Toyochem Specialty Chemical. “Every department played a part in this achievement, and our entire team is incredibly proud of this milestone. We will continue to elevate our standards to help customers seamlessly meet their food safety and compliance requirements.”
