Atlas Copco has launched the ZGH 100-200 VSD+, which the company describes as an industry-first standard oil-free rotary screw booster for PET blow-molding applications, at Drinktec India 2026. The booster extends rotary screw technology to high-pressure air applications of up to 30 bar, giving PET manufacturers a different approach to compressed air system design.
India’s beverage industry is growing, and manufacturers are increasingly focused on production efficiency, product quality, water conservation and sustainability. Utility systems play a key role in applications such as PET bottle manufacturing, packaging, pneumatic conveying, nitrogen generation and wastewater treatment. Advances in bottle design and blow-molding technology have also reduced operating pressure requirements on many PET production lines, creating opportunities for rotary screw technology in applications traditionally served by piston boosters.
The ZGH 100-200 VSD+ boosts clean, dry air from 10 barg to 30 barg at the point of use. PET manufacturers have traditionally relied on centralized high-pressure compression systems, with piston boosters housed in dedicated compressor rooms and compressed air distributed through extensive piping networks. According to the company, the compact, low-noise ZGH enables decentralized high-pressure compression, allowing installation close to the blow-molding machine while retaining the existing medium-pressure compressor infrastructure. The company said this approach can help reduce pressure losses, simplify plant layouts and free up production space.
Commenting on the launch, Bhavin Pandya, general manager, Compressor Technique Customer Center, Atlas Copco India, said, “Atlas Copco focuses on developing the right compressor technology for each application. With the ZGH 100–200 VSD+, we are extending the benefits of rotary screw technology to PET blow-molding applications requiring pressures of up to 30 bar. By enabling decentralized high-pressure compression, the solution gives manufacturers greater flexibility in plant design while helping simplify operations and optimize compressed air systems.”
Alongside the ZGH 100-200 VSD+, Atlas Copco is showcasing technologies for beverage manufacturing, including COâ‚‚ recovery and compression systems, on-site nitrogen generation and boosting solutions, and oil-free compressed air technologies. Its portfolio also includes blower solutions for applications such as pneumatic conveying and wastewater treatment.
The company said its range of compressed air and utility solutions is designed to address the evolving needs of the beverage industry in efficiency, reliability and sustainability.
