Kolhapur-based Shivam Offset has installed a Komori Lithrone G37 six-color sheet-fed offset press at one of its Kolhapur production units, adding to a fleet spread across four facilities in Kolhapur, Pune, and Belgaum.

Founded in the late 1980s as a printer of bill books and visiting cards, Shivam Offset has grown into a book printer and packaging converter operating four production units staffed by around 300 people. The facilities run a combined total of 17 web presses, eight offset presses, and a range of post-press equipment from manufacturers including Heidelberg, Bindwel, and Muller Martini.

The Lithrone G37 operates at up to 15,000 sheets per hour and features an offline KHS-AI control system designed for quick startup, high-speed operation, and automated print stability. According to the company, the press handles substrates from 0.04 mm to 0.6 mm in thickness, with an optional capacity up to 0.8 mm, and its 37-inch format is suited to A1-size outputs. “After all, the 37-inch format of the press is perfect for producing A1-size print outputs, which are not only ideal for books but also commercial graphic prints,” said Sanjay Mahadev Thorwat, founder of Shivam Offset.

Thorwat said the new press was selected for its ability to handle short turnarounds, variable job sizes, and diverse print needs across book publishing and commercial print work. “The brand new Lithrone GL37 has been installed at one of our Kolhapur units,” he said, adding that it is well suited to managing multiple print jobs.

Shivam Offset’s client base covers Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Goa, and Bihar, with some overseas book printing work also undertaken. The company is now jointly managed by Thorwat alongside his brother Vijay Thorwat and his sons Shivam Sanjay Thorwat and Kamlesh Thorawat. “We keep moving with the constant upgrades of our machine portfolio, such as the addition of the Komori Lithrone G37, and boosting our team with the welcome of younger generations on board,” Thorwat said.
