Chennai-based Pioneer Arunachalam Packaging, a label printing and manufacturing company in southern India, has added a trio of customized Rhyguan Smart-450 systems with Luster LabelMaster 450 inspection units, along with a combination of a DYM SACD-450P automatic turret rewinder, DYM HAU-450 automatic butt-splicing unwinder and DYM NAC-450 automatic waste matrix removal system, to its equipment portfolio. The machines were supplied and installed by Flexo Image Graphics (FIG), which is based in Delhi with branches in Chennai and Mumbai.

Arun Tenzing, director, Pioneer Arunachalam Packaging, said, “We started our partnership with FIG in 2009 with the purchase of a Mark Andy label press. Further, around three years ago, we bought our first Rhyguan PLUS 420 slitter rewinder from them. The recent purchase of multiple machines, comprising the customised Rhyguan Smart-450s with Luster LabelMaster 450 inspection systems and the DYM SACD-450P automatic turret rewinder combined with the HAU automatic butt-splicing unwinder and NAC automatic waste matrix removal system, is primarily for strengthening the constant increase in our production capacity, particularly in the self-adhesive domain.”

Tenzing added, “In fact, the current increase in our production capacity of self-adhesive labels drove us to adopt the new machines for higher slitting capacity, better inspection and workflows to support digital systems. Being comfortable with the Rhyguan/Luster combination and with an aim to standardize equipment workflows, my company added the Rhyguan Smart-450 high-speed slitting and rewinding machines equipped with the new generation Luster LabelMaster 450 inspection system.”

He continued, “We have chosen the DYM combo to save on machine downtime and simplify workflows, aiming to save costs in the competitive business environment. Our initial impression of the machine’s performance is positive. Our test processes are intense, and the machine is expected to achieve its productivity targets and prove its ruggedness over the next one year. In the meantime, support from DYM’s team from China will be evaluated. Once proven, DYM will be a potential partner of choice like Rhyguan and Luster for our future projects. If chosen carefully, Chinese machines have proven a compelling alternative to European machinery in features.”

Founded in 1994, Pioneer Arunachalam Packaging manufactures PVC shrink bottle labels and self-adhesive plain paper labels, serving clients across sectors including liquor, FMCG and pharmaceutical. The company’s clients are located across major cities and towns in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Kerala.

“It has been our pride to be partnered with Pioneer Arunachalam as a valued and longstanding client. They have marked a big upgrade of their machine portfolio with the recent investments in the new Rhyguan systems and Luster units and the combo of DYM SAC, HAU and NAC systems,” said Gourav Roy, managing director, Flexo Image Graphics.
