MBR Flexibles expands capacity with two new Mark Andy presses

-

Ahmedabad-based MBR Flexibles, a division of the MBR Group, is set to strengthen its printing and production capabilities with the installation of two Mark Andy presses to support the company’s expanding portfolio in labels and flexible packaging. The new flexographic presses will be provided by Flexo Image Graphics (FIG) – a prominent distributor and service provider of flexo presses in the Indian subcontinent.

Founded in the 1960s, MBR Group initially focused on dye chemicals, textile auxiliaries, and bulk intermediates. In 2010, the group diversified into flexible packaging with the establishment of MBR Flexibles, now a critical component of its operations. The division operates two dedicated production units – one for flexible packaging manufacturing and another focused exclusively on label printing. The installation of the Mark Andy 2200 and Mark Andy Evolution Series E5 presses aims to elevate MBR Flexibles’ production standards, aligning with its growth strategy in India’s competitive packaging sector.

Sahil Chopra and Yash Chopra, directors at MBR Flexibles, lead the division’s label printing unit, while Siddharth Chopra, Sagar Chopra, and Mohit Chopra, also directors, manage the flexible packaging manufacturing unit. The division provides a wide range of cost-effective, durable, sustainable, and robust labels and flexible packaging solutions, catering primarily to clients in the food and beverage sectors. MBR Flexibles currently produces 900 to 1,000 tonnes of flexible packaging solutions each month.

The two presses support a maximum print width of up to 17 inches and can handle a full range of jobs, from self-adhesive labels to shrink sleeves, in-mold (IML) labels, and more. Sahil Chopra notes that the back-to-back installation of these high-end presses will enable MBR Flexibles to significantly boost both volume and flexibility in label and flexible packaging printing and production.

Supported by a dedicated team of 200 printing and production staff, MBR Flexibles is progressing with plans for further expansion. Sahil Chopra shares that they are acquiring additional machines from FIG to venture into new market segments.

MBR Flexibles has maintained a long-standing partnership with FIG. “Previously, we invested in several FIG machines, including a Rhyguan Smart 450 slitter-rewinder and others,” says Sahil Chopra. He adds, “We continue to invest in new machines from FIG, like the two Mark Andy presses, because we value both the quality of their products and the exceptional after-sales support they provide.”

To support its customers across India, FIG has established a dedicated Customer Support Department, operating from its main office in Delhi and branch offices in Mumbai and Chennai. Alongside Mark Andy and Rhyguan, FIG distributes equipment from other major international brands, including Rotoflex, Kluge, KDS Quantum, Presstek, and DYM Machinery.
