Kongsberg PCS, a leading provider of digital cutting solutions, set its sights on Printpack India 2025 with a clear objective – to redefine sample-making and short-run production across various industry sectors. The company is showcasing its latest innovations designed to streamline sample-making and short-run production for the packaging industry.

“Printpack is one of the largest exhibitions for the printing and packaging industry,” said Rafiq Shaikh, sales and service leader at Kongsberg PCS. “This 5-day event attracts visitors from various sectors such as corrugation, labels, folding cartons, and rigid boxes – all of which align perfectly with our product offerings.”

According to Shaikh, Kongsberg’s machines are engineered to handle short-run production efficiently, ensuring high-quality finishing, precision, and the ability to process materials of varying toughness. He explained that as brands move towards smaller production batches – typically between 100 to 1000 boxes – there is an increasing need for versatile and accurate finishing solutions.

CorruSpeed tool and Static Knife

At Printpack India, Kongsberg unveiled two key innovations. “We are displaying two tools, and a major highlight is the CorruSpeed tool,” Shaikh shared. This versatile tool is capable of handling a wide range of materials, including folding cartons, varnish blankets, Kappa boards, and corrugated substrates. He emphasized that it simplifies operations by eliminating the need to switch tools for different materials, making it a one-stop solution for finishing.

Another key innovation is the Static Knife, designed for lighter materials. “This tool allows operators to use precision surgical blades to achieve fine detailing in folding cartons and other delicate substrates,” Shaikh added. He believes these advancements will provide substantial value to the industry by enhancing efficiency and reducing setup time.

Shift towards sustainable and durable packaging

Discussing market trends, Shaikh pointed out that sustainability is becoming a key driver in packaging decisions. “Brands today are looking for packaging solutions that not only offer strength but also align with sustainability goals,” he noted.

He further explained that with the growing shift towards online shopping, packaging durability has become more critical than ever. “Brand owners want their packaging to last throughout the product’s lifecycle to ensure brand recall,” he said. As a result, the industry is seeing increased demand for corrugated packaging, particularly for electronic equipment, and rigid boxes for high-value consumer goods.

Navigating market challenges and opportunities

Reflecting on the current market landscape, Shaikh acknowledged that challenges have been a constant since the introduction of GST in 2017. “Every year brings a new challenge, but what truly matters is how well a company delivers quality, performance, and service,” he said. He emphasized that trust and reliability in a brand’s offerings are more important than ever in overcoming market uncertainties.

With a track record of success, including closing 55 deals at the previous edition of Printpack India, Kongsberg PCS is optimistic about achieving even greater milestones at this year’s event. “Our goal is to help the industry achieve seamless sample-making and short-run production with unparalleled efficiency,” Shaikh concluded.
