Holosafe enhances label production capabilities with Jetsci KolorSmart+

Holosafe Security Labels, a leading manufacturer specializing in holograms and high-security labelling solutions, has expanded its production capabilities by installing the state-of-the-art Jetsci KolorSmart+ UV Inkjet Label Press. The system, designed and manufactured in India by Monotech Systems, was commissioned to support Holosafe’s growing demand for advanced, high-quality, and secure labelling solutions.

The decision to invest in the KolorSmart+ followed Holosafe’s participation in Labelexpo 2024. With the need for short-to-long run adaptability, frequent job changeovers, and variable data printing, the KolorSmart+ emerged as a perfect fit for Holosafe’s evolving business needs.

Equipped with a UV pre-flexo unit for coating, priming, or spot colour application, the KolorSmart+ supports up to six digital colour channels (W+CMYK+O) and handles substrates up to 350 mm wide. It leverages high-opacity UV LED-curable inks and offers a generous 5-litre ink tank capacity for sustained performance during long production runs. With over 50 Jetsci digital label printing and embellishment presses operating across various markets – testament to its reliability and adoption by forward-thinking converters worldwide.

Holosafe, traditionally a holography-focused enterprise, has successfully integrated flexographic label printing into its operations, leveraging this dual capability to offer unique, tamper-evident and visually distinctive packaging. Today, the company caters to diverse sectors including FMCG, pharmaceuticals, and alcohol and beverage industries, with plans to strengthen its presence in cosmetic and consumer markets.

“We wanted to print serial data and QR codes. Monotech enables this in four colours and different printing patterns. This is something that we wanted to enable in our packaging to make it smarter,” said Preeti Mishra, manager, business development at Holosafe.

She added, “Additionally, regulations in the Western world require products to have a digital passport where one can track the ingredients and the recyclability. This may occur through a QR code or RFID. This is why we have invested in the Jetsci KolorSmart+ to embed the QR codes to gain access to this sort of data.”

Mishra also pointed to India’s dynamic startup landscape as a key growth driver. “We saw good growth in the Indian startup market and wanted to cash in on the opportunity. These brands often require short runs with high customization, and that’s where the KolorSmart+ gives us a significant edge,” she said.

The KolorSmart+ supports Holosafe’s foray into smart packaging with embedded variable data, critical for authentication and anti-counterfeiting. RFID integration is also on the horizon, as part of Holosafe’s vision to offer multi-layered security solutions using a blend of digital and physical technologies.

Operating a sophisticated production facility with over 35 machines – including high-color flexo presses, rotary die cutters, and slitter rewinders – Holosafe runs a round-the-clock operation. With over 130 employees across production, development, and administrative functions, the company maintains high output efficiency and quality.

Holosafe serves clients in the pharmaceutical and automotive sectors and exports to key international markets such as Egypt, Sri Lanka, Turkey, and the Middle East.

Driven by innovation and inspired by a passion for technology, Mishra’s transition from banking in Madrid to leading Holosafe’s growth underscores the company’s commitment to blending heritage with forward-looking strategies. RFID remains a key area of focus for her, with plans to embed it across Holosafe’s portfolio to elevate its security offerings.
