Leading packaging solutions provider EPL Global has presented DuPont Cyrel with its Sustainability Leadership Award, in recognition of the DuPont Cyrel FAST thermal processing system that delivers optimum quality plates, performance and process control while minimizing environmental footprint.

EPL Global selected DuPont Cyrel FAST as its preferred solution for flexographic platemaking after a thorough evaluation of several technologies and the innovative thermal platemaking technology system has been implemented across several of its global manufacturing sites since 2023.

Recognized worldwide for its commitment to innovation and sustainability and with operations spanning multiple continents, EPL Global has consistently set benchmarks in environmental responsibility and technological excellence. Rajesh Bhogavalli, global president, supply chain and sustainability, EPL Global, said the company actively embeds sustainability into every facet of its global operations, positioning it as a strategic growth driver rather than a compliance requirement.

“EPL is implementing advanced environmental management practices to reduce carbon emissions, optimize energy and water consumption, and champion circular economy principles through waste reduction and material innovation. Our EcoVadis Platinum certification underscores our dedication to sustainable practices and ethical business standards, while on the product side, EPL is leading the way in sustainable packaging by introducing recyclable and post-consumer recycled (PCR) tubes and collaborating closely with customers to accelerate eco-friendly design adoption.

“In recognition of the positive environmental impact realized through the adoption of Cyrel FAST technology, we have awarded DuPont Cyrel with our Sustainability Leadership Award, highlighting a shared commitment to driving responsible, future forward innovation across the packaging value chain.”

The award was presented to DuPont Cyrel by EPL Global at its recent Supply Chain Excellence Awards, in recognition of its FAST thermal platemaking system. The most popular and reliable thermal flexographic plate processing system in the world, with more than 1,000 Cyrel FAST systems installed globally, the Cyrel FAST 2000 TD system uses dry, thermal technology to process high quality Cyrel photopolymer plates, eliminating the need for solvent.

“The recognition of the DuPont Cyrel FAST system from an EcoVadis Platinum-certified organization is a testament to our industry-leading practices and our role in shaping a more sustainable future,” said Gururaj Kirsur, DuPont Cyrel Solutions sales leader, South Asia. “We remain firmly committed to continued improvement on the EHS scale, be it through ongoing investment in our thermal technology or by switching to 100% renewable energy at our manufacturing sites. Being acknowledged for these efforts by an EcoVadis Platinum certified organization is undoubtedly a real source of pride for us.”

The multi-pronged approach to sustainability adopted by DuPont Cyrel was cited as one of the reasons for the honor. “As well as a significant investment in thermal technology serving to reduce reliance on solvents and minimize environmental footprints, all our manufacturing sites now operate on renewable energy sources, significantly lowering carbon emissions,” added Gururaj Kirsur. “These initiatives reflect the unwavering commitment DuPont Cyrel has to innovation and sustainability leadership.”

The DuPont Cyrel FAST thermal platemaking process eliminates the need for conventional solvents, significantly reducing VOC emissions while enabling faster, more energy efficient production. Further advancements such as reduced waste generation, improved processing consistency, and lower environmental impact align with global sustainability goals and responsible manufacturing practices.
