The Swiss technology company Beck Automation develops innovative automation solutions that can be integrated into the production processes of plastics processing industries. The company, which is now in its third generation of family management, has now established another mainstay in the medical sector. The focus is on producers of medical consumables that are manufactured using injection moulding. The first projects have already been realized.
“We have been looking at this option for about four years, as Switzerland is a global medical location with pharmaceutical companies and research and development facilities. Furthermore, we see an increasing demand for automation solutions, which we can serve with our profound automation know-how and our many years of experience in the development and production of customized solutions. Therefore, our entry into the medical market is therefore a consistent step. At the same time, it represents a milestone in the history of Beck Automation”, explains Nicolas Beck, managing owner of Beck Automation AG, the step into the medical sector. A separate business unit was founded within the company for this purpose. “We want to focus specifically on the medical market. For this reason, the medical business unit will operate autonomously within our organization in order to be able to react competently, flexibly and quickly to customer requirements,” adds Nino Zehnder, marketing and sales manager at Beck Automation.
Already in the planning phase of the new business unit, a start was made on building up product- and market-specific knowledge as well as personnel. Engineering, project management and service were aligned according to the new, specific conditions.
Ralf Ziemer completes the team in sales with his profound industry know-how. “There are many automation possibilities in the medical and cosmetics industry. Beck has 36 years of experience in the field of automation. Because of this, our products are very interesting for pharmaceutical companies, their manufacturers, but also for companies in the cosmetics industry. We offer excellent solution possibilities,” says Ziemer.
Beck is aware that medical components are not standard parts. The products require very individual, customized solutions and this is where the company sees its core competence. “Our customers benefit from our highly efficient, customized systems that offer sustainable economic advantages. We set ourselves the highest standards in product and production reliability. We ensure this through solutions that are reproducible, validatable and hygienically flawless,” Zehnder continues. Medical products must not pose any risks to patients and users, which is why they must be free of defects. “Our systems rule out mismanipulation, are modular in design and can be realized in a small space. Cost pressure is constantly increasing, and production space, especially in cleanrooms, is expensive. We have to take this into account,” adds Ziemer. Beck’s solutions comply with the regulations of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and are suitable for cleanrooms up to class ISO 8.
