XSYS advances flexo plate portfolio with nyloflex eco series

-

XSYS, a global provider of flexo printing plates, plate processing equipment, and prepress software continues to contribute to a more sustainable future for flexo printing.

Building on its earlier promise, the company is steadily expanding the nyloflex eco series by introducing more sustainable versions of traditional nyloflex plates where feasible. With the launch of two analog nyloflex eco plates, XSYS continues its efforts to offer environmentally friendly alternatives to the market while maintaining high standards of print quality and performance.

“At XSYS, we are committed to lifting proven quality to a sustainable future, which is why we are swiftly expanding the nyloflex eco series while retiring our legacy plates as far as possible,” says Florian Hoelzle, product manager nyloflex/nylosolv. “Offering analog eco versions of nyloflex ACT and nyloflex FAC is a natural progression, allowing us to support even more customers in their sustainability efforts.”

Designed as a versatile plate for paper and board applications, the nyloflex eco ACT delivers exceptional performance with water-based inks, making it ideal for absorbent substrates. Meanwhile for corrugated post-print, nyloflex eco FAC achieves consistent, high-quality results on rough and uneven surfaces or pressure-sensitive and soft paper materials. Both plates feature the same light blue color that is gradually standardizing XSYS’ flexo portfolio to optimize plate production and reduce production waste.

In terms of composition, the plates’ polymer layers contain between 19% and 29% renewable raw materials to improve the footprint of the plates across their life cycle, as evident by life cycle assessments performed by XSYS. They also enable a reduction of the processing time by up to 20%, helping to minimize energy use and solvent consumption in the platemaking process. Notably, nyloflex eco plates can replace legacy nyloflex plates without time-consuming press trials. All plate characteristics remain the same, meaning no waste will be created in the simple changeover to sustainable flexo printing.

“With the nyloflex eco plate series, introduced at drupa last year, we are making major strides in our journey towards sustainability. We will continue to develop more products that support the sustainability journeys of our customers by lowering environmental impacts while maintaining, or even improving, the print quality, allowing our customers to Be Brilliant. More nyloflex eco flexo plates will be introduced in the near future,” concludes Hoelzle.
