At Pamex 2023, Vinsak demonstrated its label finishing machine USAR (universal slitter and rewinder) which can do visible and invisible QR codes for connected packaging and on labels. The machine displayed at the event had a flexo unit for varnish in addition to a die-cutting unit doing registered die-cutting, a camera inspection system doing 100% quality inspection, and slitting and rewinding. The company also ran videos and live streams of Lombardi machines at the event.
“At this exhibition, we are focusing on our two new taglines – Short Run Flexible Packaging and Connected Packaging,” said Ranesh Bajaj, managing director of Vinsak. “Increasingly, the demand for SKU is becoming smaller in terms of quantity, and with our new solutions with Lombardi, we are able to efficiently produce 500 kg or even lower of material at very low cost and quick turn around time.”
“We are competing against digital with these applications by providing speed of the digital at the cost of a normal or standard flexo, even cheaper than a gravure. So there is a quite sweet spot in short-run flexible packaging that we are working on. The second focus is on connected packaging. In connected packaging, you want more and more customer interactions with the brand directly, which is through variable QR codes and different formats in addition to the whole software solution around that which is also our focus.”
