At IndiaCorr Expo 2025, Valco Melton highlighted its advanced vision inspection systems and patented contact gluing solutions, aiming to strengthen its presence in the Indian corrugated industry. Speaking exclusively to The Packman, N Sourabh Ram, sales manager, Valco Melton, explained the company’s objectives at the exhibition and the evolving industry trends.

“Our objective for the exhibition is to promote our vision inspection systems in the market,” said Ram. “We have been very successful in the West and other regions. In India, the adoption of such technology is still emerging. The industry is growing rapidly, and we see a bright future for the corrugated sector here. We felt it was the right time to introduce our solutions and support this growth.”

Apart from the vision inspection systems, Valco Melton also highlighted its patented contact gluing system, which has become a standard across major FFG brands. Ram explained, “It is reversible in 30 seconds, which we have a patent of, and nobody else has that product.” Additionally, the company promoted print inspection and gap inspection solutions that are critical for ensuring smooth operations in high-speed packaging environments.

On the sustainability front, Valco Melton is taking proactive steps to help the industry reduce its carbon footprint. Ram noted, “We have adhesive dispensing systems which are designed to reach sustainability goals, so we save 50 to 75% of adhesives to the customer, which reduces the carbon footprint and number of trucks moving to the facility.”

Discussing the key challenges faced by the corrugation industry, Ram pointed to the rising demand for high-speed carton erector machines and the need for stringent quality control. “Leading companies such as P&G enforce strict procurement standards, requiring suppliers to provide exactly the specified quantity of boxes, while expressly disallowing the provision of additional units to offset possible defects,” he said. “So, instead of keeping 20 people manually inspecting each and every box, you can go for a vision inspection system. It will complement the speed of the machine.”

Regarding industry trends, Ram shared that in the last three years, the focus has shifted toward reducing the number of ply in corrugated boards while maintaining or enhancing strength. “People are going for a 3-ply board instead of a 5-ply or 7-ply, but with the strength of a higher-ply board,” he explained. “This is possible by improving gluing technology and enhancing paper quality.”

Speaking about the response at IndiaCorr Expo, Ram said, “While the overall footfall was slightly lower compared to last year, we had productive discussions with our existing customers, who showed strong interest in our vision inspection system.”

Looking ahead, Valco Melton is gearing up for its next appearance at PacMach Asia in Mumbai from 13 to 15 November 2025, a major packaging exhibition focusing on corrugated box manufacturing, food, pharma, and paper, film, foil, inks, and other industrial consumables. We are really excited for that show,” concluded Ram.
