Siegwerk wins 2026 EcoVadis Sustainability Achievement award

-

Siegwerk, one of the leading providers of printing inks and coatings for packaging applications and labels, has been awarded the 2026 EcoVadis Sustainability Achievement award in the category ‘Best New Program’.

Every year, EcoVadis grants its sustainability achievement awards to companies with strong sustainable procurement programs that enable meaningful impact across global value chains. Here, the “nest new program award” recognizes companies that demonstrate rapid progress and leadership in responsible procurement within the first three years of their EcoVadis journey.

“We are more than proud of this recognition from EcoVadis, as it acknowledges the outstanding joint efforts of our entire procurement community,” said Cathleen Hansohm, global supplier sustainability manager and human rights at Siegwerk, who received the award on behalf of the company at the EcoVadis Sustain Conference in Paris on March 2026.

Siegwerk said a key driver of its progress is SustainUP, the company’s global sustainable procurement program designed to holistically advance sustainability and human rights throughout the supply chain.

“With SustainUP, we have developed a program that brings sustainability to life in our procurement processes. It goes far beyond mere compliance and places transparency, responsibility, and continuous improvement at the core of our actions. Receiving the EcoVadis Sustainability Achievement Award for the “best new program” now clearly shows that we are on the right track, encouraging us to keep raising the bar,” Hansohm said.

SustainUP was launched in mid-2025 to provide teams with clear guidelines, practical tools, and structured frameworks to help them integrate environmental and social responsibility into every sourcing decision. “At Siegwerk, we believe that sustainability is a shared responsibility. Close collaboration with our suppliers enables us to proactively address challenges, drive innovation, and build a resilient and transparent supply chain,” said Arash Babai, head of global purchasing at Siegwerk.

Through supplier engagement, dedicated training, and transparent performance tracking, SustainUP ensures that sustainability becomes an embedded and scalable element of Siegwerk’s procurement activities worldwide. Just recently, the company held its first supplier engagement sessions with interactive webinars and an in-depth workshop in India, one of Siegwerk’s most important sourcing markets, equipping suppliers with practical knowledge and tools for responsible business practices. “With SustainUP, we go beyond simply fulfilling regulatory requirements; we shape responsible sourcing by actively fueling change throughout our supply chain,” Babai said. “And as key part of our sustainability strategy HorizonNOW, SustainUP even makes responsible procurement an integral part of our overall strategy and operations with measurable goals to achieve.”
