At the recently concluded Plastindia 2018, SP Ultraflex launched its latest version of slitter rewinder in the Roboslit series – Roboslit Plus. Running at speeds up to 1,000 m/min, the dual turret slitter rewinder is an extension of the flagship Roboslit series which is designed for 800 m/min speed. “Roboslit Plus is a new generation turret machine where we have taken the speed up to 1000 m/min. We have added a lot of safety features on the machine as well as performance-related features which help improve the quality of finished reel,” said Biku Kohli, managing director of SP Ultraflex.

Kohli explained that the ramp up and ramp down time of Roboslit Plus has been reduced to 45 seconds. This allows converters to actually finish their job by running the machine at the maximum speed of 1000 m/minute even while working on short-run jobs, which may be as small as 800 meter.

In addition to the Roboslit Plus, SP Ultraflex also displayed its basic slitter rewinder, Primaslit FL, at the exhibition. “We make eight different slitter rewinders, and in this segment, this is the widest product range in the world,” said Kohli. Primaslit FL runs at the highest speed of 600 m/minute and is a duplex slitter with two shafts – one above and one below. Primaslit FL is differentiated from most of the other slitter rewinders available in the market because it has the unwind and rewind on the same side while the cutter is on the opposite side, which makes it a very convenient machine for the operators to handle. The operator can stand in one position and monitor the unwind and rewind process. At the same time, he can easily access the cutting section on the other side of the machine.

SP Ultraflex’s participation at the 2018 edition of Plastindia was the third time the company was exhibiting at India’s flagship show for plastics and packaging. “Since 2005, the year in which we stopped manufacturing a few of our machines like printing presses and laminators, and started focusing on slitters, we have been ahead of the market. We have been using Plastindia as a platform to showcase our latest technologies since 2012. This is the third edition of Plastindia in which we have shown our capability of delivering. As a leader, it is our duty and responsibility to show the market as to what we can do and what is available – only then the market will come up with the need,” said Kohli.
