Siegwerk to showcase sustainable packaging solutions at Sustainable Packaging Summit

-

Siegwerk, one of the leading global providers of printing inks and coatings for packaging applications and labels, will participate as a gold sponsor in Packaging Europe’s Sustainable Packaging Summit, taking place from 10 to 12 November 2025 in Utrecht, Netherlands. Recognized as a leading international platform for accelerating sustainable transformation in the packaging industry, the annual event brings together stakeholders from across the value chain to exchange knowledge, showcase innovations, and jointly explore possibilities to tackle the most pressing challenges in packaging today.

“Progress needs innovation as much as it needs collaboration. Sharing expert know-how and ideas with others along the packaging value chain is key to sustainably developing packaging solutions that can make a real difference for both the environment and society,” says Alina Marm, head of global sustainability & circular economy at Siegwerk. “That’s why we are delighted to support Packaging Europe’s Sustainable Packaging Summit, as it encourages interdisciplinary dialogue, helping to forge new connections and drive actionable change for a sustainable future in packaging.” As the largest event of its kind in Europe, this year’s summit will even feature an extra day of content, expanded networking opportunities and a larger exhibition space.

At stand 3G77, Siegwerk will present its latest developments in ink and coating technologies that support recyclability and drive the transition to sustainable packaging solutions. Among the highlighted innovations is the company’s NC-free surface ink system for polyolefin-based packaging, whose inks offer the same technical and mechanical performance as conventional NC-based inks, but with the added benefit of enabling full recyclability. This allows aligning packaging design with recycling infrastructure and upcoming regulatory requirements.

In addition, Siegwerk will present Cirkit Natubar PR 4798, a recyclable, bio-based coating developed for paper plates. This water-based solution not only improves water and grease resistance in packaging applications, making it a suitable replacement for PE laminations, but also complies with the EU Single-use Plastics Directive. Independently verified for food safety, recyclability and compostability, the coating enables scalable, circular single-use applications by replacing fossil-based materials with renewable alternatives. It reflects Siegwerk’s commitment to developing sustainable solutions that meet both environmental and functional demands.

As part of the summit’s conference program, Alina Marm will also give a presentation on 11 November 2025. Under the title ‘Creating fit for future packaging with inks and coatings’, her talk will explore how ink and coating technologies can unlock new pathways for sustainable packaging, and how industry players can respond to evolving expectations around transparency, safety, and environmental impact.
