Bangladesh-based Robin Printing & Packages is a leading supplier of printing services and packaging to global brands. Founded in 1969, the company is a pioneer in the printing and converting of packaging and counts British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BATB) and other leading global brands among its customers. With a clear commitment to producing premium quality products, using best-in-class equipment, Robin Printing & Packages has grown its business and expanded its presence in markets including fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), household healthcare and pharmaceuticals.

In 2019, the company installed a Bobst Lemanic Delta gravure printing and converting line dedicated to the production of flip-top tobacco boxes. Following the installation, Robin Printing & Packages has increased cigarette packaging production volume by 70 billion sticks each year at its purpose-built facility in Sreepur. While marking the 50th-anniversary celebration of Robin Printing & Packages in 2019, the installation reportedly was the first of its kind, not only in Bangladesh but also in the entire Indian subcontinent.

The management of Robin Printing & Packages with the Bobst team

The Bobst Lemanic Delta printing press configuration at Robin Printing & Packages comprises a double reel unwinder with automatic 0-speed splicer at full production speed, 11 printing units that are thermal oil heated, inline quality control system Registron iQ 400, a rotary die-cutter RDC 82 D with three stations and manual delivery.

Robin Printing & Packages was established in the mid-sixties in Tongi, north of Dhaka city, by Mohammed Hussain, with a plant dedicated to letterpress before moving towards sheet-fed offset and eventually integrating gravure technology. Today, it remains family-owned and has grown to include a second printing plant in Joydevpur and, since 2012, a flexible materials division to meet its customers’ needs across all the markets it serves.

Robin Printing & Packages and Bobst share a long-standing relationship that dates back to almost three decades. Much before investing in the Bobst Lemanic Delta line, Robin Printing & Packages, in 1993, installed a Bobst Champlain gravure press – its first-ever Bobst machine – followed by a Bobst Rotomec 888 gravure press in 2012 for printing on flexible materials; and a Bobst RS5002 gravure printing press installed in 2018.

Fahim Hussain, managing director of Robin Printing & Packages, said, “Bobst has been a key partner in supporting our growth as a business and always ensuring we have the very best equipment in place to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers. It is critical that we are able to deliver the quality products our customers require. Over the years, our investments in Bobst are helping us make our ambition of being the market-leading print and packaging supplier in Bangladesh a reality.

“The Bobst Lemanic Delta press is unrivaled in the marketplace and enables us to produce sophisticated, high-quality packaging for our tobacco customers. We are delighted with what it has enabled us to achieve in packaging production.”
