Graphic Packaging Holding Company has announced a leadership transition in which Robbert Rietbroek will become president and chief executive officer, effective 1 January 2026, according to the company’s official statement. Rietbroek will also join the board of directors. Michael Doss, who has served as CEO since 2016, will step down from the role and from the board on 31 December 2025.
In the announcement, Philip R Martens, chairman of the board, said, “We are pleased to appoint Robbert as Graphic Packaging’s next CEO. His unique combination of extensive CPG expertise and solid track record of delivering value-creating results positions him well to drive organic growth and world-class execution, and deliver strong and steady free cash flow.”
Doss said the transition aligns with the completion of major strategic initiatives. “Leading the talented Graphic Packaging team over the past decade has been a privilege,” he said. “With the completion of our Vision 2025 transformation, we have everything we need to deliver on our Vision 2030 goals. I believe that this is the right time for this transition.”
Rietbroek, who previously served in leadership roles at PepsiCo, Kimberly-Clark, Procter & Gamble, and, most recently, as CEO of Primo Water, said he is eager to take on the role. “I have long admired Graphic Packaging for its sustainable packaging solutions and am honored to join at such a pivotal moment in its journey,” he said. “Graphic Packaging has the right assets, team and capabilities to execute on its Vision 2030 priorities, and I am eager to lead the company into our next phase.”
The company also confirmed additional operational updates, including planned cost reductions and production optimization measures.
