Speaking to The Packman, Ajay Shah, chairman, national executive council, Plastindia 2023, said, “Plastindia 2023 will focus on innovation, sustainability and growth, facilitating modern techniques that will help maintain a cleaner environment and lead to sustainable economic growth. There will be a separate Sustainability and Recycling Pavilion at the exhibition. In addition, we will conduct a one-day seminar where international speakers will speak about sustainability, waste management and recycling.”
“On the product front, Plastindia 2023 will feature a lot more innovations – not only in standard products be it raw material, machinery, molds, and dies but also in new age applications like artificial intelligence, 3D printing, robotics, and automation used in plastics manufacturing,” said Shah.
Shah said that lockdowns and Covid had ignited the spirit for innovations. “Lockdown has spurred lot more innovations than ever – for example, India was a huge importer of masks and PPE kits before Covid hit us. But within 2-3 months, the Indian entrepreneurs were able to turn it around to become one of the largest exporters of these products. So, there is an entrepreneurial spirit and hunger for innovation in the industry, which helped India change the existing model overnight because that was the need of the hour.”
“Plastindia 2023 aims not only to bring together exhibitors and visitors from different sectors of the plastic industry but also to display the new technologies and innovations in the industry. It is a great medium to showcase new products and a brilliant opportunity to connect with national and international decision-makers,” added Shah.
Jigish Doshi – president of Plastindia Foundation, said, “We expect more than 2000 exhibitors from India and 50 other countries displaying their latest innovations and cutting-edge technologies. India is poised to become the plastics processing hub of the world. The industry, which employs about 4 million people and comprises more than 50,000 processing units, is expected to reach 9.1 lakh crores (USD 102 billion) by 2025. We are committed to working closely with the government and the industry to facilitate growth and work towards innovative and modern manufacturing techniques that will be sustainable for the environment and the economy.”
