Komori-Chambon launches inline flexographic press for paperboard packaging

-

Komori-Chambon Group has expanded its flexographic portfolio with the introduction of TwinFlex, a new compact flexographic press designed for high-performance paperboard packaging applications.

Developed to combine production flexibility, premium print quality and a reduced footprint, TwinFlex is based on a dual-deck modular design that allows converters to adapt the press configuration to their daily production needs. The concept enables fast job changeovers, optimized make-ready times and efficient use of paperboard, while supporting demanding industrial performance requirements.

The new press has already been validated through its first installation in the United States, where TwinFlex successfully replaced an older-generation flexographic press within a limited footprint. This initial reference confirms the press’s ability to deliver higher productivity and improved print quality, while meeting the operational constraints of modern paperboard packaging production.

“The TwinFlex opens up new possibilities for our customers,” said Firmino Da Costa, Komori-Chambon sales and marketing director. “It offers a compact, modular and highly automated flexo press that combines industrial performance, flexibility and cost efficiency. TwinFlex is part of our new range of flexographic presses, and we are pleased to make this solution available to Komori-Chambon customers worldwide.”

Compact and fully servo-driven, the new press is based on a modular design featuring dual-inking printing units, delivering an optimal balance between industrial performance, production flexibility and reduced footprint.

Designed to meet current market requirements, TwinFlex allows two colors to be managed at each printing unit and enables offline plate and anilox sleeves preparation. This architecture ensures quick job and format changes while significantly reducing downtime and waste between production runs. It enables efficient switching between long runs and frequent design changes, while maintaining high productivity levels.

Beyond print quality, TwinFlex offers extended possibilities for packaging enhancement, with the inline integration of added value and converting solutions. Like all Komori-Chambon presses, it can be configured on a fully customized basis, from reel to finished blank, in a single pass and without intermediate handling. This integrated approach relies on the Group’s recognized expertise in webfed printing and converting technologies.

With a design optimized for high-speed web printing, TwinFlex reaches production speeds up to 450 m/min, including inline converting. It handles web widths up to 1450 mm and printing repeats up to 1020 mm, enabling the production of large-size blanks. The press is particularly well-suited for demanding paperboard packaging applications, including liquid packaging, general folding carton, and high-volume production environments.
