One Water takes sustainability leap with Polytag’s QR code technology

-

Polytag, a recycling technology company, has partnered with One Water, an ethical hydration brand in the UK. The collaboration involves the integration of Polytag’s unique QR codes onto selected One Water products, serving the dual purpose of incentivizing recycling and providing invaluable insights into the lifecycle of the brand’s packaging.

Building on the success of Polytag’s previous partnerships with major retailers like Ocado, Co-op, and Aldi, this venture is set to offer One Water a versatile marketing tool and lay the foundation for an innovative approach to traceability.

Polytag’s GS1 Digital Link QR codes, when scanned by consumers, will seamlessly transport them to the dedicated One Water website focused on the company’s philanthropic activities. Here, consumers can immerse themselves in the brand’s narrative.

Strategically placed QR codes will empower One Water to take significant strides in ensuring the traceability of their bottles throughout the supply chain. Polytag’s technology provides unprecedented lifecycle data, which can inform sustainability strategies, inspire new campaigns, and enhance the rewarding nature of recycling for customers.

Polytag’s technology also presents an opportunity for brands like One Water to enhance their understanding of product purchase, consumption, disposal, and customer interactions with packaging.

One Water opted to collaborate with Polytag due to the exceptional benefits offered by the recycling tech company’s QR code technology. Polytag’s future-proof GS1 Digital Link QR Codes not only provide extensive analytics but also keep brands like One Water ahead of evolving legislation and market trends.

Polytag’s tags, unlike standard QR codes, are readable throughout the supply chain, from point of sale to recycling centers. Anticipating the implementation of extended producer responsibility (EPR) regulations by October 2025, Polytag’s QR codes create a digital product passport, positioning brands at the forefront of EPR compliance.

Alice Rackley, CEO of Polytag, highlighted the significance of the collaboration, emphasizing the use of technology for brand promotion while contributing to societal betterment. She emphasized how Polytag’s QR codes offer hyper-relevant content about the product, setting them apart from other QR codes.

Duncan Goose, founder at One Water, said, “We’re excited to embark on this journey with Polytag. Their QR-based technology enables our customers to connect with us and learn more about what we do, whilst also providing us with additional insights and opportunities to reduce our impact and future-proof our brand. This partnership further reinforces our commitment to being the UK’s leading ethical hydration brand.”

Polytag’s codes will be featured on various One Water products, including 500 ml still and sparkling water plastic bottles, 750 ml plastic bottles with sports caps, 330 ml still and sparkling water glass bottles, and 750 ml still and sparkling water glass bottles.
