OFRU celebrates 40th anniversary

-

OFRU Recycling is celebrating its 40th birthday. OFRU has been manufacturing distillation plants for the recovery of contaminated solvents since 1978, making an active contribution to environmental protection and sustainability.

The plant manufacturer focuses on the environmentally friendly use of chemicals, making the world a little bit greener every day. Now active on an international level, the company was founded in 1978 as an offshoot of the American Ransburg Corporation, today better known as ITW Ransburg. OFRU Recycling, short for “Oberflächentechnik Russau”, not only developed one of the first vacuum evaporators in the 1970s, but was also instrumental in establishing the now well-known distillation technology for flammable liquids on the German market.

Continuous investment was made in expansion abroad at the start of the 1990s. The framework conditions for the Bavarian experts are ideal. There is huge demand for German environmental technology. With an export share of over 80%, an extensive sales network and a multilingual in-house sales team, OFRU is extremely well positioned in the international market.

In a similar way to spirits distillation, the OFRU plants work on the distillation principle. However, it is industrial chemicals and liquid flammable solvents such as acetone, thinner, ethyl acetate and toluene, as well as many other solvents, that are distilled here. The recycling plants developed by OFRU treat liquid hazardous waste and reduce in-house CO2 emissions, supporting recycling management and sustainable chemicals handling.

With a daily capacity of 100 to 40,000 litres, the treatment plants are manufactured at a modern manufacturing centre in Alzenau in North Bavaria / Germany, a hub of resource efficiency and a widev varietyof recycling technologies. The company has customers in almost every continent around the world.

OFRU can look back at the successful development of the company over the past 40 years and is proud to have made such a major contribution to global environmental protection.
