NBG Printographic Machinery, headquartered in Faridabad, hosted an open house from 14 to 16 September, showcasing its cutting-edge 8-color Starflex narrow-web flexo press. The event was a resounding success, and the machine has already been booked by a prestigious label printing company based in Hyderabad, specializing in pharmaceutical labels. The installation of the press is expected to be completed by the end of September 2023.

Nitin Garg, director of NBG Printographic Machinery, emphasized the company’s unwavering commitment to precision engineering. He said, “NBG has maintained a steadfast identity as an engineering company deeply dedicated to precision. The commitment to precision engineering has been a cornerstone of our company for the past three to four decades. Our dedication to precision runs deep within the core of our machines, as every component and crucial part is painstakingly manufactured in-house to meet the strictest of tolerances.”

In recent years, NBG has undertaken a concerted effort to streamline the design of its flexographic printing machines. Additionally, the company has strategically extended its footprint in the flexographic printing sector by establishing specialized divisions for both narrow- and wide-web flexo printing. Garg explained, “Within the wide-web division, we specialize in manufacturing machines for various applications, including paper bag printing, non-woven sack, and the corrugation industry. Our wide-web machines come in sizes ranging from 1.3 meters to 1.9 meters in repeat length, with options for 1.8 and 2-meter width configurations.

“The wide-web division experienced significant growth, causing a slight delay in the launch of our narrow-web division, which was introduced to the market a couple of years later. When we eventually launched our narrow-web machinery, we received an excellent response from the market.”

Regarding the versatility of the Starflex press, Garg said, “One of our clients exclusively operates this press for printing on filmic substrates, including unsupported films and BOPP materials. In contrast, another client primarily focuses on paper-based printing, despite both using the same design and model of the machine. This particular press is a top-loading 430 mm wide machine equipped with MLS (mechanical line shaft) as its standard configuration, with an option for ELS (electronic line shaft) for added versatility. Notably, the same platform can be seamlessly upgraded to a full servo system to meet the specific requirements of our customers.”

In a more recent development, NBG installed a state-of-the-art 10-color Starflex press at Kumar Labels in Noida, an 8-color press in the Middle East, and a 6-color press in Africa, among other installations.

When it comes to after-sales support, NBG operates with a highly distinctive and deliberate policy. For instance, when considering the flexographic printing division within the company, the service team was the first to be recruited, followed by the formation of the sales team. This sequence is consistent across most of its divisions. “As an example, we recently initiated a paperboard division, and even though we have yet to establish a sales team for it, our service team is already ready and in place,” he said.

When asked about Indian customers’ preferences for European machines, Garg explained, “Things are evolving. Customers are realizing that we have the capabilities right here in the country to deliver high-quality results with these machines. We already have clients who are successfully using our machines to produce jobs that they were previously producing on European machines, and they are achieving similar results.”
