Mosca at interpack: Strapping solutions for Industry 4.0

-

At interpack 2017, Mosca will present its new RFID technology for automated inventory management of strap coils. A simulation at Stand F36 in Hall 16 will demonstrate how the system works. Strapping machines ranging from entry-level to high-end models offer an overview of the many different applications. The focus is on systems for complex products that are difficult to strap. Mosca is showcasing the full spectrum of strapping technology, from the high-performance KZV-111 for pallet strapping and the Evolution SoniXs MS-6-H side-seal strapping machine for household appliances, to a range of compact manual units.

With the new RFID application, Mosca demonstrates in clear and simple terms what Industry 4.0 could mean in the field of strap inventory management. The company shows how a customer’s ERP system communicates with a strapping machine equipped with intelligent strap coils, identifies stock levels, and independently activates reorders. interpack visitors can watch consumption and ordering processes live at Stand F36 in Hall 16, where they are simulated with a strap warehouse, a strapping machine that reads RFID tags, and multiple digital displays.

The new RFID system was developed in close cooperation with ERP experts PSI Automotive & Industry GmbH and Winckel, a company specializing in RFID systems. One key component is an industrial app that enables Mosca customers to quickly trace strapping material ordering processes using a mobile device.

High-performance pallet strapping
The fully automated KZV-111 quickly and reliably handles special strapping challenges posed by bulky, frequently changing packages. The unit can be easily integrated into existing production lines and uses a single basic frame. Its conveyer height can be infinitely adjusted from 0 to 650 millimeters. An optional strap tension balance system distributes strap tension evenly across the entire package and ensures reliable stability – a key advantage for rigid products.

A movable sealing top platen equipped with Mosca’s unique SoniXs ultrasonic technology makes it possible to strap packages of different heights. Its sheet metal construction makes the narrow sealing top platen extremely light and therefore highly dynamic and energy-efficient.

High-performance side-seal strapping machine with ultrasonic technology
Heavy products or items transported close to the ground, such as furniture or household appliances, can best be secured for transportation using horizontal strapping. Mosca’s latest development in the Evolution series, the Evolution SoniXs MS-6-H, is ideal for this task, because the sealing unit is attached to the side of the machine. The MS-6-H has a vertically adjustable frame to secure the packages horizontally in different levels. A side pusher presses the product against the strapping unit for very precise positioning of the straps. In high-end applications, the SoniXs MS-6-H can triple strap up to 180 packages per hour. Up to ten different strapping positions ensure the package is securely strapped for safe transport.

Mosca’s MS-6 series units are the only side-seal strapping machines to feature the Evolution Standard-6 strap path with SoniXs ultrasonic technology. The Evolution SoniXs MS-6 feeding mechanisms allow full network communication, bringing the side-sealing units into the Industry 4.0 era. One example of this is the ability to run diagnostics via online remote maintenance, enabling faster maintenance and reducing down time. Other benefits, including an optional folding frame, ergonomic strap threading, and an optional fully-automated double strap dispenser, make the Evolution SoniXs MS-6 a versatile premium product.

All MS-6 series machines have upstream and downstream feeding mechanisms and can be easily integrated into existing production lines. They process machine-compatible PP, PET and PLA straps with a width of 5 to 12 or 9 to 12 millimeters.

Fully automated units for a wide range of applications
Other Evolution series units are also on display at Interpack, including the versatile Evolution SoniXs MP-6 B with three different frame sizes from 600 by 600 millimeters to 1000 by 800 millimeters. This compact unit features integrated infeed and outlet conveyers, making it an ideal entry-level fully automated machine. It also features a top-of-the-line Standard-6 sealing unit and modular construction.

The top-of-the-range Evolution SoniXs TR-6 Pro is equipped for the highest strapping performance requirements and the demands of Industry 4.0. Along with a range of different strapping programs, positions and settings that can be easily selected via HMI touch panel, users can integrate the unit into many standard control platforms.

The Evolution SoniXs MP-6 R-VA is perfect for the food processing industry. It is made entirely of stainless steel, aluminum, and other corrosion-resistant materials and can be safely cleaned with a water jet.

High quality for manual applications
Mosca also supplies high-quality entry-level technology. The RO-M FUSION and MO-M-8 units are equipped with heat-welding systems and electronic temperature regulation and feature user-friendly coil changing and threading systems. While the semi-automated MO-M-8 works without a strap guide frame, the automatic RO-M FUSION lets the user choose between different frame sizes.

As an automated table model, the Evolution RO-MP-6 T goes one step further. Equipped with the Standard-6 strap path, the versatile unit can be supplied with either heat-welding or ultrasonic technology and is suitable for an extremely wide range of products.
