Mondi showcases sustainable papers for luxury packaging

-

Paris Packaging Week at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles exhibition centre is a leading global event for the cosmetics, beverage, luxury and aerosol packaging industries. It is the perfect meeting place for brand owners, material suppliers and service providers along the entire value chain. An important driver for the industry is sustainability. From 28 to 29 January 2025, Mondi will be demonstrating at Stand E34 how paper packaging can support the sustainability efforts of branded goods manufacturers in the luxury segment. With its broad portfolio, Mondi offers luxury goods manufacturers a wide range of sustainable papers for high-quality luxury packaging.

Pergraphica design papers for a touch of luxury

At the Mondi stand, brand owners can find out about the possibilities offered by the Pergraphica range for conveying brand identity through its special look, feel and colour scheme. The packaging of high-quality products should indicate the exclusivity of the contents at first glance and whet the appetite for the luxurious experience to come. “With our premium design paper brand Pergraphica, we offer brand owners and packaging designers a wide range of design options,” explains Bernhard Cantzler, Marketing & Sales Director at Mondi Uncoated Fine Paper. “Pergraphica not only stands for creativity – the paper also ensures a lasting effect. Even the first touch is an experience for the senses. The range of visual effects extends from striking to elegant.” The Pergraphica portfolio delivers consistently high print quality and excellent converting properties such as impeccable creasing and folding. It includes three shades of white with excellent color reproduction and a wide range of 31 delicate, saturated or dark colors in grammages between 90 and 400 g/m². “The most recent addition to the portfolio is a grammage specifically required for perfume packaging: 350 g/m² available for Pergraphica Classic Rough and Pergraphica Natural Rough,” Cantzler adds.

IQ Board: premium quality for premium products

IQ Board, an uncoated premium virgin fibre paper, is also an interesting option for packaging applications. It is ideal for highlighting the contents of luxury items, cosmetics and high-quality hygiene products. IQ Board is optimised for smooth processing during printing, finishing and filling. The smooth, natural feel emphasises striking packaging designs. IQ Board is available in the shades of bright white and natural white, with grammages from 250 to 400 g/m².

IQ Grass + Packaging conveys uniqueness at first glance

In Paris, Mondi is also showcasing a very special packaging paper: IQ Grass + Packaging. This paper, made from up to 30 percent grass fibres combined with FSC- and PEFC-certified fresh fibres, is a real eye-catcher. The raw materials used give IQ Grass + Packaging a unique structure and fibre appearance. Each sheet has its own grain, making every package unique. Available in grammages between 80 and 350 g/m², IQ Grass + Packaging can be finished with hot foil stamping and embossing for a high-quality feel.

Strong commitment to sustainability

Sustainability is increasingly seen as a key factor for luxury goods manufacturers. Mondi is aware of this and has set itself an ambitious sustainability framework. The Mondi Action Plan 2030 (MAP2030) sets out the actions, targets and milestones the Group needs to achieve to meet its 2030 sustainability commitments. The company is already well positioned: Mondi papers, which are ideally suited for luxury packaging, are produced at the Austrian paper mill Mondi Neusiedler. The pulp used there and in all of Mondi’s other uncoated fine papers comes exclusively from sustainably managed forests – from Mondi itself or from carefully selected suppliers on the world market. All Mondi paper brands produced in Austria and Slovakia are Cradle to Cradle Certified at the Bronze level. The certification covers all aspects from procurement to production and confirms that the products are manufactured and used in accordance with the principles of the circular economy.

Mondi holds Platinum status in EcoVadis’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) ratings, placing the Group among the top 1% of global companies assessed.
