Kongsberg’s new cutting table exceeds sales targets ahead of drupa debut

-

Unveiled at a launch event at the end of 2023, the new digital cutting table Ultimate from Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems (Kongsberg PCS) became commercially available in 2024 and has already surpassed its first-half sales target, securing numerous customer orders. According to Kongsberg, the newly launched Kongsberg Ultimate is living up to its name, with the cutting platform achieving remarkable success by exceeding sales targets even before its global debut at drupa.

“The response to the Kongsberg Ultimate has been absolutely incredible across the industry,” said Stuart Fox, president and CEO of Kongsberg PCS. “We were confident that with its unprecedented productivity, precision, and safety, we had created a machine that would set a new standard and transform the corrugated production industry. Following our European and North American launch events – where selected invitees could see it in action – we expected the Kongsberg Ultimate’s debut on the global at stage at drupa to be the true launchpad for sales. The fact that so many orders have already been secured in just a few short months is not only vindication of our confidence but is also a testament to the remarkable efforts of our R&D team in developing this fantastic new solution.”

Featuring innovative new drive technology, an impressive acceleration rate of up to 2.74G, and a cutting speed of 168 m/min, the Kongsberg Ultimate was specifically developed to meet the needs of corrugated and display converters, maximizing precision, productivity, and innovation. Providing a fast return on investment, the Kongsberg Ultimate addresses and eliminates many of the unique challenges faced by converters involved in continuous high-volume, multi-batch production.

“The response following a number of individual demos and trials has been unprecedented,” added Stuart. “As soon as customers see it in action, they immediately recognize how the Kongsberg Ultimate sets a new industry benchmark. Perhaps more importantly for them, they can also see how it can benefit and enhance their own operations and provide them with a significant competitive advantage.”

In addition to boosting productivity with its speed and acceleration, a meticulously designed custom carbon fiber beam ensures the Kongsberg Ultimate ensures unparalleled stiffness and consistently applies a 50 kg downforce for absolute precision. Operator safety is maximized through an innovative new dual-zone proximity-driven safety solution, SmartZone, that seamlessly blends safety and efficiency.

“I am absolutely thrilled that the machine has very clearly lived up to the hype in the eyes of customers who have already recognized this for the true game-changer that it is,” added Stuart. “The rapid reaching and shattering of our sales target for this new machine is the ultimate endorsement of our faith in the fact that the Kongsberg Ultimate will help businesses elevate their operations for many years to come.”

The Kongsberg Ultimate will be showcased in action at drupa 2024 at Stand B43 in Hall 8A.
