In a conversation at the Printpack India 2025 exhibition, we spoke with Jun Sudo, president of Komori India, and Jitender Rohilla about their objectives and strategies in the print and packaging sectors.

Jun Sudo outlined Komori’s primary objective at the exhibition, emphasizing its focus on engaging with potential investors and closing significant deals. “We have a good interest in our products and a solid pipeline,” he noted, highlighting the importance of seizing opportunities to expand their market presence.

At the exhibition, Komori introduced the new G series in commercial printing, featuring enhanced environmental features integrated into its successful Enthrone series. Additionally, it promoted the Lithrone 40 Advanced EX edition, recently launched at drupa 2024, which incorporates eco-friendly technologies and improved user interfaces tailored for the packaging segment.

Regarding market strategy in India, Jitender Rohilla discussed Komori’s robust market share, particularly in the commercial and packaging sectors. “We currently hold a dominant position with over 70% market share combined,” he said. He further outlined plans to expand their footprint in the packaging sector, with the installation of 60 new machines by March 2025, aimed at enhancing production capabilities and meeting growing market demands.

Addressing Komori’s leadership in commercial printing and its impact on the packaging segment, Rohilla emphasized their strong presence and the strategic shift of many commercial printers towards packaging. “We are leaders not only in commercial printing but also in packaging, with more than 60% market share,” he said, highlighting their competitive edge and adaptability in evolving market landscapes.

During the exhibition, Komori also featured KP Connect, a product designed to streamline MIS data accessibility, highlighting its commitment to technological advancement and customer satisfaction. The company also showcased its packaging innovations and offered special schemes on spare parts.

Reflecting on India’s potential as a burgeoning market for print and packaging, Sudo stressed the importance of both domestic market maturation and expanding into international markets. “India’s future lies in leveraging technology to meet global standards and fulfill diverse market expectations,” he remarked, emphasizing Komori’s role in supporting its customers’ international ambitions through advanced printing solutions.

Echoing this sentiment, Rohilla highlighted the evolving dynamics in the packaging sector post-COVID, where hygiene concerns and rising middle-class purchasing power drive demand for quality packaging solutions. “Packaging has become a critical component in ensuring hygiene and product quality,” he concluded, highlighting its crucial role in meeting evolving consumer demands.
