interpack China 2026 will take place at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from 16–18 November 2026, once again partnering with the World Packaging Organisation (WPO) to host an International Green Packaging Development Summit. The event comes as the packaging industry faces pressure from increasing regulation, shifting consumer attitudes toward sustainability, and international carbon reduction commitments.
WPO and interpack China 2026 – international green packaging summit
Timed to coincide with the WPO Board Meeting in late 2026, the International Green Packaging Development Summit will be organized by the China National Export Commodities Packaging Research Institute (CEPI) during the exhibition. The summit is designed to align with global decarbonization trends and China’s national ‘Dual Carbon’ strategy. It aims to create a platform for dialogue across policy, standards, technology, and industrial practice, with a focus on advancing the green transition in packaging and supporting the country’s carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals.
The summit is expected to draw approximately 300 delegates, including representatives from the WPO, the China Packaging Federation, and the National Technical Committee on Packaging Standardization. International experts are expected to account for roughly 10% of attendees, alongside officials from regulatory bodies, research institutes, and academia. Topics will include global sustainability frameworks and green packaging assessment, brand-owner requirements for eco-friendly materials, sustainable packaging for the catering and takeaway sectors, and developments in smart packaging and supply chain practices. Nestlé, Coca-Cola, Yili, and Fenjiu have been invited to discuss their green procurement strategies, technology developments, and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
interpack China debuts two media series ahead of Shanghai edition
Ahead of its Shanghai edition, interpack China will lead a delegation of exhibitors to interpack in Düsseldorf, Germany, in May. The group includes Weide, Eiahe, Acepack, BHI, Elemotion, Yilong, Earflap, Mittiway, Zenbo, Newsmart, and Huitong, who will present developments in packaging equipment, sustainable materials, and automated manufacturing.
interpack China is also launching two original media series: Packaging Explorer and Global Packaging Perspectives. Packaging Explorer features interviews with Chinese exhibitors active in international markets, covering research and development, product developments, and international expansion strategies. Global Packaging Perspectives examines international market trends and regional demand shifts, with the aim of helping domestic companies identify commercial opportunities in overseas markets.
In parallel, the interpack China team is engaging with international buyers and procurement professionals ahead of the November exhibition to facilitate business-to-business matching between Chinese and international enterprises.
