During the 10th India Corr Expo 2023 at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida, Valco Melton highlighted its cutting-edge technology for dispensing corrugated adhesives. Valco Melton, a globally recognized leader in adhesive dispensing within the packaging industry, exhibited a comprehensive range of technologies including control systems, adhesive application systems, pumping systems, and inspection systems. While some of the exhibited products incorporated existing technology, others seamlessly integrated new advancements. Notably, the innovations centered around inspection, specifically employing camera-type systems.

“One standout feature exclusive to Valco is its inspection systems, powered by advanced camera-type technology. These systems meticulously oversee various aspects of box manufacturing. Foremost among these tasks is ensuring that the adhesive is consistently applied in the correct position and quantity on every box. Beyond adhesive inspection, Valco’s systems also scrutinize the proper formation of boxes, verifying the accuracy of gaps between them, and assessing the quality of printing.

“This entails confirming that the printing is accurate, that the correct codes are present, and that there is no smudging or ink-related issues. Valco takes pride in possessing this cutting-edge technology, which sets it apart from competitors. While some may have fragments of such technology, Valco offers a comprehensive package unparalleled in the industry,” said Rod Blanton, international sales manager for Asia Pacific at Valco Melton.

Speaking about the Indian market, Blanton expressed confidence in its rapid growth and anticipated consolidation. He recognized the need for faster, more efficient, and automated machinery to meet future demands, aligning perfectly with Valco’s commitment to serving customers with such requirements. “Valco Melton has positioned itself to accommodate these forthcoming market expansions effectively,” he said.

Furthermore, Blanton emphasized Valco Melton’s long-standing commitment to sustainability since its inception. “Our approach involves helping customers in saving money on adhesive by applying it more efficiently, leading to reduced deliveries and a lowered carbon footprint. This eco-conscious business model aligns seamlessly with our mission statement,” said Blanton.

Regarding market trends, Blanton pointed out the global resurgence of paper as a preferred packaging material, with plastic facing negative perceptions. “Valco Melton benefits from this shift because its primary focus lies in serving the paper converting industry. Whether it involves transforming paper into corrugated boxes, paper bags, or envelopes, Valco Melton specializes in these paper conversion processes. This worldwide trend towards paper-based packaging applications extends beyond India and covers the entire Southeast Asian region that I oversee.”

Blanton highlighted the growing emphasis on palletizing to eliminate shrink wrap, opting instead for adhesive-based stability – an ongoing trend in tandem with the broader movement toward paper packaging and reduced plastic usage.
