Herma introduces new entry-level label applicator at FachPack

-

Herma is introducing the Herma eco applicator at FachPack (Hall 3C, Stand 322), aimed at providing cost-effective entry into advanced labeling technology. This new model, produced alongside the high-performance Herma 500 in Germany, ensures value retention and durability typical of Herma products.

“This means value retention, durability and investment security, even in the entry-level segment. After all, the Herma eco is produced on the same production line in Filderstadt, Germany, as the high-performance Herma 500 – and therefore carries within it genuine Herma DNA,” emphasizes Martin Kühl, Head of the Labeling Machines division.

Costing the same as the predecessor model Herma basic, the Herma eco offers several new features. It integrates into packaging systems and higher-level control systems (PLCs) more extensively and conveniently than previous models. This is achieved through a series of additional I/O signals that enable automatic power control, separate labeling process start, and manual label dispensing, which is particularly useful when setting up an applicator.

These signals also facilitate end-of-reel checking. Additionally, the printer and peel system will each have separate connections for independent monitoring. This allows the use of a printer with a pneumatic transfer unit, expanding the flexibility and potential applications of the Herma eco.

The Herma eco is suitable for simple pharmaceutical or healthcare systems, thanks to its master encoder function, which provides continuous and automatic synchronization with the conveyor belt speed. It ensures precision at speeds up to 30 meters per minute for labels up to 160 millimeters wide. Newly designed winders and unwinders enhance accuracy by reducing the inert mass that needs to be moved. The empty backing paper can be quickly and easily removed from the winder by pulling an expanding mandrel off the winding core.

Future updates via USB interface

The Herma eco maintains the familiar, easy-to-use menu structure with a single operating level. The operating keys are larger than those on the previous model, enhancing comfort, especially in challenging environments. The Herma eco can also be updated via a USB interface, ensuring investment security and future-proofing the applicator. The plugs and connecting cables are the same as those of the high-performance Herma 500, allowing users to reduce storage space for spare parts if they use both models.

Individual configuration online

The Herma online configurator allows for easy adaptation of the Herma eco to specific requirements, particularly for mechanical engineers. This includes choices for clearance, installation of a dispensing and peel system, or using the horizontal Herma eco variant. Pre-configuring applicators online can save time and money by reducing the need for design modifications at the customer’s premises.
