At the Paperex 2023 exhibition, Cosmo Films made its debut appearance, showcasing a diverse array of products. Among them, the spotlight was on its Cosmos Synthetic Paper, direct thermal paper, and premium lamination-grade films like scuff-free Velvet, catering predominantly to the high-end segment of the lamination grade.

Speaking to The Packman, Aditya Vikram Singh of Cosmo Films said, “Our synthetic paper is compatible with most existing printing technologies and can be easily written on with oil-based pens. Our wide range of products includes pressure-sensitive labelstock films, which are universal printable films; they can deliver superior print performance across diverse printing processes. Our other products include direct thermal printable films or DTP films, PVC-free films for graphic arts applications, etc., and are designed for applications like commercial printing, tag and labels, retail and packaging, outdoor applications, etc.”

Singh added, “Cosmo Films, a key global supplier of specialty films for packaging lamination, labeling solutions, and synthetic paper, is committed to engineering innovative products that offer sustainable solutions for the food and beverage industry, personal care brands, as well as packaging and printing converters. We aim to enhance the customer experience by complementing paper in various ways.”

Sharing his thoughts on Cosmo Films’ maiden participation at the Paperex exhibition, Singh said, “As a film manufacturer, we complement paper through lamination and other means. Our synthetic paper, with its non-tearable nature, and chemical- and water-resistant properties, provides effective solutions against chemical and water damage. The Paperex exhibition allows us to showcase our entire product range, targeting the predominantly paper-oriented audience.”

Cosmo Synthetic Paper is manufactured in-house in India. Singh said, “With the state-of-the-art facilities, what sets us apart is the versatility of our synthetic paper, accommodating almost all 10 printing technologies available in the market today, including digital, laser, offset, screen printing, and flexo printing.

“Although Cosmo Synthetic Paper has been in the market for more than a decade, our emphasis on it has intensified in the last four to five years. It is a specialty product that has demonstrated its efficacy, ensuring significant growth in the synthetic paper segment.”

Speaking about market challenges, Singh acknowledged the need to establish a market for synthetic papers. He said, “Our priority is to actively engage in promotion and create awareness among customers, demonstrating how synthetic paper offers a superior solution for various applications, and grow the market.”
