[dropcaps style=’2′]B&R, one of the major players in the automation industry in India, displayed its Industrial IoT solutions at Plastindia 2018. At the B&R Industrial Automation stand in Plastindia 2018, visitors witnessed next-generation automation solutions for building smart machines and factories together with various Industrial IoT solutions. The company also displayed its Smart-factory intelligence with Orange Box at Plastindia.[/dropcaps]

Smart-factory intelligence with Orange Box
B&R’s Orange Box lets users access previously unreadable energy and process data from digitally isolated machinery. The Orange Box is able to read data from the machine without any changes to existing hardware or software. Clearly visualized performance metrics make it easy to identify opportunities for targeted improvement so machinery can be operated more efficiently. The Orange Box enables machine operators to collect and analyze data from previously isolated machines and lines and get them fit for the smart factory with a minimal effort.

An Orange Box consists of a controller and B&R mapp Technology’s preconfigured software blocks – known as mapps. The controller collects operating data from any machine via its I/O channels or a fieldbus connection. From this data, the mapps generate and display OEE ratings and other KPIs, and can also share the information with higher-level systems via OPC UA.
