Brilliant Polymers, a prominent manufacturer of laminating adhesives for flexible packaging in India, was a Platinum Sponsor at the ElitePlus 11th Specialty Films & Flexible Packaging Global Summit 2024. The summit, held at the Reliance Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, brought together over 2,200 industry leaders from more than 27 countries, marking it as a significant event for the specialty films and flexible packaging sectors.

At the summit, Brilliant Polymers’ managing director, Gaurav Talwar, delivered a key address titled ‘New frontiers in solvent-free laminating adhesives for flexible packaging.’ In his speech, Talwar highlighted the company’s commitment to promoting sustainability by encouraging the shift from solvent-based to solvent-free adhesives. This transition brings various benefits, such as reduced emissions, lower energy consumption, and a smaller carbon footprint, contributing to the broader goal of achieving a circular economy.

Brilliant Polymers presented several case studies and product innovations at the ElitePlus summit, emphasizing advancements in high-performance solvent-free adhesives. These innovations are expected to drive the industry’s shift from solvent-based to solvent-free technologies, supporting the growing demand for more sustainable solutions in flexible packaging.

S629/S299

A low viscosity, two-component solvent-free adhesive based on advanced cure low monomer technology. It offers excellent optical properties, fast curing, robust food safety compliance, and enhanced environmental sustainability. The S629/S299 adhesive is compatible with various ink systems, including NCPU, PU, and water-based inks. It is suitable for high-speed lamination with metallized films and prevents ink smearing, even with variable adhesive deposit weights.

SR75/S631

This reverse-catalyzed two-component solvent-free adhesive provides exceptional optical properties, robust food safety compliance, and enhanced sustainability. It serves as a replacement for solvent-based adhesives in applications like PET/Met PET and PET/Met PET/Poly, where no metal transfer is required.

S755

A moisture-curing, single-component solvent-free polyurethane adhesive, S755 is designed for flexible packaging, graphic arts, and other industrial applications. It offers good bond strength, optical clarity, heat resistance, and chemical resistance. Specifically tailored for lamination of paper and board to aluminum foil or printed/unprinted films, S755 ensures fast curing and strong bond strength.

Flagship Max Cure solvent-free adhesives

The Brilliant Max Cure range represents state-of-the-art formulations based on pure MDI, delivering fast physical cure times, rapid PAA decay, robust food safety compliance, and enhanced environmental sustainability. The Max Cure adhesives enable faster, safer packaging, supporting higher-performance applications and replacing solvent-based adhesives. This transition enhances cost efficiency while delivering significant sustainability benefits. Its applications include – Bulk bags (5, 10 and 25 kg) for atta, rice, and similar products; and aggressive filling goods like tomato ketchup, hair dye, and shampoo

A market leader in innovation

Gaurav Talwar said, “As a market leader and responsible player in laminating adhesives for food packaging, Brilliant is focused on predicting future trends and developing products that ensure the safety of people and the environment. This includes anticipating tighter regulatory constraints and offering solutions that meet customer expectations.”

With the addition of these new products to its portfolio, Brilliant Polymers is poised for significant growth and consolidation in both India and international markets. “We expect these products to be game-changers for our customers, enabling them to shift more applications from solvent-based to solvent-free technology, delivering both cost and sustainability advantages,” concluded Talwar.
