
A curtain raiser to Bharat Packaging Expo 2027 was held on 19 June 2026 at the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), Patparganj, Delhi, bringing together industry leaders, brand owners, technology providers, exhibitors and buyers to discuss the future of packaging under the theme ‘From Compliance Pressure to Intelligent Packaging Transformation.’
Jointly organized by the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) and India Exposition Mart (IEML), with support from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, the World Packaging Organisation (WPO) and the Asian Packaging Federation (APF), the event marked a key milestone ahead of Bharat Packaging Expo 2027, to be held from 30 August to 2 September 2027 at the India Expo Centre and Mart, Greater Noida, as India’s packaging industry accelerates towards a more sustainable, digitalized and globally competitive future.
Dr. Tanweer Alam, additional director & RO, IIP Delhi, welcomed the gathering and described Bharat Packaging Expo 2027 as a transformative platform for India’s packaging industry, bringing together the entire ecosystem to foster innovation, address emerging challenges and strengthen India’s position as a global packaging hub. Industry Leaders shared their perspectives; NS Sundaram, Chairman, IIP Delhi and chief executive officer, Paharpur 3P, emphasized that the packaging industry is undergoing rapid transformation, driven by evolving regulations, sustainability imperatives and the demand for recyclable and resource-efficient solutions. He noted that innovation, digitization, traceability and collaboration across the value chain will be critical to building a resilient and globally competitive packaging ecosystem. He expressed confidence that Bharat Packaging Expo 2027 will reflect the scale, diversity and global ambition of India’s evolving packaging industry.
Indranil Saha, head – packaging development, Dabur India, highlighted that FMCG brands are navigating evolving regulations, export compliance requirements, changing consumer preferences and cost pressures, making agile, consumer-centric packaging solutions essential. Jatin Takkar, head – brand owner collaboration, Siegwerk India, emphasized that while sustainability is critical, packaging safety remains an often-overlooked aspect of the circular economy. He stressed the need to balance recyclability with product safety, material performance and robust standards, noting that packaging safety is now non-negotiable.
Sandip Kumar Ghosh, head of department – packaging development, HealthKart (Bright Lifecare), highlighted that packaging is a key growth enabler that shapes consumer perception, builds trust and differentiates brands through convenience, ergonomics and user experience. He emphasized the importance of data-driven insights and consumer feedback in developing relevant and impactful packaging solutions.
Rahul Tirpude, deputy director – IIP Delhi, noted that packaging today goes beyond protection and presentation, with increasing focus on compliant, sustainable and intelligent solutions that drive exports and business growth. He added that Bharat Packaging Expo 2027 will bring together the entire packaging ecosystem to address emerging trends, future challenges and new opportunities.
Sunil Jain, immediate past chairman – Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) & president and executive director, Rajoo Engineers, emphasized the need for a global platform to showcase India’s packaging excellence, manufacturing capabilities and technological innovation. Congratulating the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) and India Exposition Mart Limited (IEML), he expressed confidence that Bharat Packaging Expo 2027 will emerge as a leading hub for packaging technology, innovation and business collaboration.
Sudeep Sarcar, CEO, India Exposition Mart (IEML), highlighted the importance of the show by stating that, Bharat Packaging Expo 2027 is built on a buyer-first approach, connecting exhibitors with qualified decision-makers through structured matchmaking and pre-scheduled buyer-seller meetings. Guided by an industry-led Advisory Council and comprehensive product zones, the expo is designed to maximize exhibitor ROI, foster meaningful business connections and open pathways to global markets.
Industry leaders collectively highlighted that Bharat Packaging Expo 2027 will foster partnerships, accelerate innovation and strengthen India’s position as a global packaging hub. The event concluded with an invitation to stakeholders to participate in building a more sustainable, technology-driven and globally competitive packaging ecosystem. Positioned as India’s Gateway to the Global Packaging Ecosystem, Bharat Packaging Expo 2027 is expected to bring together 500+ exhibitors, 30,000+ business visitors and participants from 60+ countries across 25,000+ square metres of exhibition space. The expo will showcase the complete packaging value chain, spanning materials, machinery and automation, food and pharmaceutical packaging, printing and labeling, sustainable solutions, logistics and warehousing technologies, and smart packaging innovations.
