Ball scales up in India with new production expansion

Ball Corporation, a global leader in sustainable aluminum packaging, announces strategic investments in India, reinforcing its long-term commitment to meet growing customer demand and strengthen the regional supply chain in one of Asia’s fastest-growing consumer markets. Following its 2024 investment of nearly USD 55 mm in the Taloja can manufacturing facility located in the Maharashtra district, close to Mumbai, Ball is making another key investment of approximately USD 60 mm in its Sri City manufacturing facility located in the Andhra Pradesh district, close to Chennai city.

“India is key to our global strategy, and this investment reflects our focused approach to scaling operations in high-growth markets and securing long-term competitive advantage. Following our expansions in Taloja and Sri City, we are exploring further investments to support the continued growth of the Indian market as more brands and consumers are choosing aluminum packaging,” said Mandy Glew, president, Ball Beverage Packaging EMEA and Asia.

Ball’s investment directly supports the growth of India’s beverage can market, projected to expand by over 10% annually over the next five years. As consumer demand shifts toward more sustainable and convenient formats, new product categories – particularly in the dairy segment – are gaining momentum. Ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages and milk-based drinks are increasingly turning to aluminum as a preferred solution for modern dairy packaging. Leveraging its retort innovation technology, Ball enables these products to achieve extended shelf life while maintaining taste and nutritional integrity. This capability strengthens Ball’s position as a key enabler of packaging transformation in India’s evolving beverage landscape.

“This is a pivotal moment for our India team,” said Manish Joshi, regional commercial director – Asia, Ball Beverage Packaging India. “It reinforces our commitment to serving customers in this fast-growing market with greater speed, flexibility, and reliability. We are proud to contribute to local skill development and strengthen our partnerships with local suppliers and customers to drive growth, sustainability and technical innovation tailored to the Indian market.”

Since entering the Indian market in 2016, Ball has steadily expanded its footprint across India through its presence in Taloja and Sri City, providing a wide range of beverage can formats (185 ml, 250 ml, 300 ml, 330 ml, 500 ml) that serve both global and domestic leading brands.
