Aptar Closures has introduced a suite of closures designed to help beauty, personal care and home care brands protect products through the online fulfillment process amid rising eCommerce volumes. The portfolio brings together four solutions – Embrace, E-Simplicity, Future Disc Top and E-Disc Top – engineered to protect products in transit, support sustainability goals and provide a consumer experience free of unboxing frustrations.
According to the company, social media platforms now drive 68% of global beauty sales and continue to reshape how consumers discover and evaluate products, with eCommerce representing nearly half of total beauty sales. This shift is said to be placing greater pressure on brands to ensure products arrive intact and perform as expected after delivery. Packaging must protect products on store shelves while also withstanding the rigors of parcel shipping, reducing the need for secondary packaging and supporting a positive first-use experience. Sustainability expectations are also rising, with 61% of global beauty shoppers stating that environmental sustainability influences their purchasing decisions, underscoring demand for packaging that reduces waste while still protecting products in transit.
Aptar’s portfolio addresses these demands by integrating protective functionality directly into the closure designs. Each closure has passed Amazon ISTA-6 robustness testing, and all are available in post-consumer recycled (PCR) versions.
Embrace is a premium flip-top closure combining design with eCommerce-ready performance. It features non-visible protective technologies intended to withstand demanding shipping conditions, helping guard against side impacts, accidental openings and leakage during transit while preserving a high-end appearance. Available with frost and glossy finishes as well as custom logo capabilities, the closure is intended to help brands strengthen shelf appeal and enhance brand recognition without compromising product protection.
E-Simplicity is an eCommerce-capable flip-top closure designed to balance product protection with ease of use. It features a visible breakable, non-detachable tear band and a back-off resistant thread, intended to help prevent accidental opening and leakage during transit while giving consumers clear first-opening evidence. The company states that E-Simplicity eliminates the need for liners, shrink bands and other packaging components, reducing overall packaging material requirements. Its design is said to be particularly suited to home care applications distributed through eCommerce channels.
Future Disc Top is a premium disc top closure made entirely from polyethylene (PE), making it a mono-material closure compatible with recycling streams when paired with PE or PET bottles. Its locking ring is designed to provide a secure lock and unlock function with a clear visual indication of closure status, intended to help prevent leakage during transit while offering on-the-go usability. With customizable colors, the closure is intended to help brands enhance shelf appeal while advancing recyclability goals.
E-Disc Top is a disc top closure featuring an integrated concealed mechanism intended to help keep products secure during transit while preserving the closure’s look and functionality. Following initial opening, it operates like a standard disc top. The company states that the closure also helps eliminate the need for liners, shrink bands and other secondary packaging components, reducing material requirements and improving supply chain efficiency.
“Today’s packaging must perform across every stage of the journey, from manufacturing and fulfillment to delivery and consumer use,” said Maria Vázquez-Ricote, market leader BPH at Aptar Closures. “eCommerce has fundamentally changed how packaging must function. Brands are looking for solutions that reduce excess packaging waste, simplify packaging and perform reliably in transit, while also delivering a flawless, social media-proof unboxing experience for consumers, and this portfolio is designed to address those needs.”
