8th International Injection, Blow, Roto Moulding, and PET Global Summit 2023 by ElitePlus++ Business Services was successfully held in Mumbai on 9 and 10 October 2023. The summit was a grand success with over 760 attendees from 410 organizations representing 13 countries.

During the two-day power-packed event that featured the active participation of global brand owners, making it a significant gathering in the industry, global industry leaders delivered more than 40 presentations covering various technical sessions, including material opportunities for moulding applications, innovations in injection, blow and roto moulding machinery, moulds and automation, end-user perspective, mobility, white goods and material handling, PET machinery, recycling, trends in blow moulding, voice of converter, and new applications in raw material & design in roto moulding.

Keynote speakers at the summit highlighted the key factors shaping the industry, such as the latest global trends, the impact of EV vehicles on plastics demand, sustainability in fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and white goods sectors, changing consumer behavior, automation in the processing sector, the role of water management, and the perspectives of top fund managers on the industry.

Some of the main takeaways from the various speaker presentations included the strength of the Indian economy even amidst a global economic slowdown, the promising growth prospects of the rigid plastic industry in India, and the increasing global focus on India.

Furthermore, there was an insightful presentation by Ajay Arora, head of investment banking advisory at Ernst & Young India, who discussed the emerging scenario for mergers and acquisitions in the packaging sector, which will shape the industry’s future landscape.

During the summit, there were engaging panel discussions moderated by industry experts. The first panel, moderated by Sridhar J, head of packaging development at Pureplay Skin Sciences, featured panelists from companies such as Pidilite Industries, Mankind Pharma, Godrej Consumer Products, and L’Oréal. This panel discussed the latest trends and challenges in packaging development, particularly in the rapidly evolving sustainable packaging landscape.

The second panel discussion, ‘Excellence in Manufacturing through Automation,’ was moderated by Raju Desai, director at Jyotiplastic, and included panelists from Fanuc India, Devanshi Electronics, PTC, and Selplast Exp. They explored cutting-edge innovations and emerging technologies that are shaping the future of packaging manufacturing.

The third panel discussion, ‘Indian Industry’s March for Sustainability in Packaging,’ was moderated by Dr. Vijay Habbu from Reliance Industries and featured panelists from GMS Plastic Machinery, Magnum Group, J B Ecotex, and Landbell GreenForest Solutions. This panel delved into the pressing issue of sustainability in the Indian packaging industry, examining innovative approaches, challenges, opportunities, eco-friendly materials, recycling initiatives, waste reduction strategies, and the role of technology in sustainable packaging solutions.
