Vinsak’s seminar on label printing and finishing technologies in Mumbai during Pamex

More than 65 printers and converters attended the Labelling Simplified seminar that was organized by Vinsak in Mumbai on 19 December 2017

The seminar was co-sponsored by Lombardi and Iwasaki International. More than 65 printers and converters attended the seminar on label printing and finishing technologies.[/dropcaps]

Sanjdip Kandhari, director of Vinsak, welcomed printers, converters and media persons from all over the country. Kandhari shared the insights of Indian label industry and various trending label technologies.

Nicola, marketing manager at Lombardi, gave a presentation on flexo technology

Nicola, marketing manager at Lombardi, gave a presentation on flexo technology. He shared his viewpoints on various advantages of flexo, new innovative features to seek in machines and flexo market dynamics. He also shared a live case study between flexo and rotogravure film printings and showed how flexo can be economical in terms of running cost and machine cost.

Naoki Ogawa, director of Iwasaki International, gave a presentation on how intermittent offset presses rule the liquor label market because of consistent and high-quality printing as well finishing of labels. Naoki also showed a case study in which he explained how intermittent press can be a better solution than digital printing in terms of quality as well as running cost. He also shared how Iwasaki is working towards technology where an offset printer can install a semi-rotary flexo press without developing the new prepress system at their plant.

Ranesh Bajaj, director at Vinsak, presented various live examples of inline finishing machines and discussed how they can save time and money. Bajaj has also discussed various counterfeiting cases in Srilanka, China, India and other countries. Bajaj further discussed how printers can do value addition and provide brand protection at substrate, design and print level.

The presentations were followed by a panel discussion between manufacturers and printers. Noel D’Cunha, editor – Printweek India, moderated the session that saw the participation of Ajay Agarwal – Syndicate Labels, Gurudutta – PrintMann, Manish Desai – Mudrika Labels, Ranesh Bajaj – Vinsak, Nicola – Lombardi and Naoki Ogawa – Iwasaki International.

Noel D’Cunha, editor – Printweek India, moderated the panel discussion between manufacturers and printers

D’Cunha asked various questions about the impact of GST and demonetization on Indian label industry, the new trend of buying bigger web width presses, the role of inline finishing and how printers are looking to explore more opportunities while reducing costs and investing in right machinery.
