Veritiv launches fiber-based pallet shipper for biopharma cold chain

-

Veritiv has introduced TempSafe PalletShield, a new fiber-based pallet shipper designed for pharmaceutical and bio-pharmaceutical cold-chain logistics. The company said the product is the first pre-qualified pallet shipper made with curbside-recyclable components and expands its TempSafe portfolio of cold-chain packaging solutions.

According to Veritiv, TempSafe PalletShield delivers more than five days of validated thermal protection, supports a payload capacity of 558–596 liters, and can accommodate more than 300 pounds of dry ice. The design is said to integrate with standard pallet workflows and use a patent-pending panel-locking construction that maintains structural integrity and consistent thermal performance across long-distance, multi-stop temperature-controlled lanes.

Veritiv says the pallet shipper is designed for use in life sciences, healthcare, and other high-value cold chain logistics, with the aim of helping customers reduce waste, simplify pack-outs, and eliminate disposal costs associated with traditional expanded polystyrene (EPS) and polyurethane (PUR) pallet systems.

In a statement included in the company announcement, Chris Bradley, chief marketing & sustainability officer at Veritiv, said, “Cold chain teams are asking for solutions that don’t force a compromise between thermal assurance and environmental responsibility. TempSafe PalletShield delivers on that expectation and expands our TempSafe line with a curbside-recyclable pallet shipper built for real operational pressures.”

Frank Butch, director of Cold Chain Solutions at Veritiv, also said, “Our goal from day one was to design a recyclable pallet shipper that performs at or above traditional materials while remaining intuitive for teams on the floor. TempSafe PalletShield gives customers a validated, easy-to-handle system that scales with the complexity of today’s cold chain.”

Veritiv said TempSafe PalletShield is now available through its distribution network. The product may not be recyclable in all areas, as recycling infrastructure and regulations vary by municipality.
