United Caps to acquire Dewit Plastics’ caps, closures

Luxembourg-based United Caps SA, the international producer of innovative caps and closure solutions formerly known as Procap, announced plans June 1 to purchase the caps, closures and handles unit of Dewit Plastics, a thermoforming and injection molding company located in Schoten, Belgium.

The range produced by Dewit includes screw, tamper-evident and child-resistant closures, as well as handles for large containers. The acquisition allows United Caps to build on its existing portfolio, expanding the range of offerings it can provide to customers. The acquisition leverages United Caps fundamental strengths in caps and closures technology and manufacturing.

“Our clients turn to United Caps for innovative solutions to their closure needs, including bespoke solutions. By adding this new technology and expertise from Dewit Plastics, we better position ourselves as a single source for clients for their caps, closures, and now handles, requirements,” said Benoît Henckes, CEO.

The acquisition solely relates to Dewit’s caps, closures and handles business. The converter will continue its injection molding and thermoforming activities in other market sectors.

“We are pleased that the expert team at United Caps will be taking over this part of our business,” said Mr Alain Cap, owner of Dewit Plastics. “Our customers for these products will be in good hands, and we will be better positioned to focus on our core injection molding and thermoforming businesses.”

United Caps will be integrating the acquired production assets into its plant in Hoboken, Belgium, over the next several weeks. The family-run group also has manufacturing sites in France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Luxembourg and Spain.
