UFlex, India’s largest multinational flexible packaging and solutions company, has announced its sponsorship of Triveni Continental Kings (TCK) for season 3 of the Tech Mahindra Global Chess League (GCL), the world’s first and only team-based professional chess league. Triveni Continental Kings has emerged as the top-performing team in the league, earning back-to-back championship titles in the first two seasons.

This season, the team comes back with an exceptional line-up, featuring some of the world’s finest chess talent, rising prodigies, and leading women players. Alireza Firouzja, the dynamic Grandmaster who was instrumental in TCK’s season 2 victory, returns as the Icon Player. Joining him is Wei Yi, one of the greatest young talents in global chess, and India’s Grandmaster Vidit Gujrathi, who led the national team to a historic gold medal at the 45th Chess Olympiad. The women’s line-up is further strengthened with former Women’s World Champion Alexandra Kosteniuk and Chinese Grandmaster Zhu Jiner, currently ranked among the top five women players in China. The prodigy slot is taken by French Grandmaster Marc’Andria Maurizzi, winner of the 2023 World Junior Championship and the 2025 French Championship.

The team will once again be mentored by Dutch Grandmaster Loek van Wely, former National Coach of Italy, whose strategic leadership has played a pivotal role in TCK’s back-to-back championship wins. As part of this partnership, the UFlex branding will appear on the official jerseys of the Triveni Continental Kings players.

Apoorvshree Chaturvedi, director – global operations, UFlex, said, “We are delighted to partner with Triveni Continental Kings, as this association highlights our shared values of learning, discipline, and creativity. For UFlex, supporting chess is a means of fostering critical thinking and boosting confidence in the youth. We have always believed that sports have the ability to inspire people, bring communities together, and nurture talent. Over the years, we have supported diverse sporting initiatives, from cricket to football development programs. Recently, we supported an initiative where youth football coaches from leading Series A clubs trained more than 700 young players across India, helping to strengthen grassroots participation and skill development. This collaboration strengthens our commitment as we support a sport that is shaping India’s global identity and inspiring a new generation of thinkers and leaders.”

Akash Premsen, CEO, Triveni Continental Kings (TCK), said, “As we enter season 3, we look forward to our new team doing its best as part of franchise that returns as back-to-back champions. We are excited to partner with UFlex, a brand that shares our belief in the power of sport to shape thinking and aspiration among young talent. Chess is now one of the fastest growing fan sports in India, and the Global Chess League has played a pivotal role in making it more mainstream and relevant. With this association, we aim to widen engagement, bring more audiences into the sport, and continue creating long-term value for the chess community.”

The Global Chess League has played an important role in advancing India’s rapidly evolving chess landscape. Over the past few years, the sport has witnessed a surge in popularity across the country.
