UFlex, headquartered in India, is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of flexible packaging solutions and has established itself as an innovative supplier to global brands worldwide. With state-of-the-art production facilities in India, the United Arab Emirates, Mexico, Poland, Egypt, the United States, Hungary, Nigeria, and other international markets, UFlex combines a global presence with a local focus on customer needs. The company serves customers across numerous industries, including Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), pharmaceuticals, automotive, and construction. UFlex’s packaging solutions are used in a wide variety of everyday products, such as food and beverages, cosmetics, and household goods.

Boardmaster as part of a total investment of USD 126 Million

Asepto is the division of UFlex responsible for the production of aseptic liquid packaging products, such as milk and beverage cartons. It has now successfully commissioned two Boardmaster web flexographic printing presses from Heidelberg at its new facility in Ain Shokna, Egypt. These machines are part of a total investment of USD 126 million dollars to establish a state-of-the-art facility for the production of aseptic packaging for the global market. The highly innovative Boardmaster machines will enable Asepto to expand its production capacity by an additional 12 billion aseptic packages per year, bringing the total capacity of its facilities in India and Egypt to 24 billion packages annually.

With its investment in the Boardmaster system, UFlex is strengthening its technological leadership and further expanding its capabilities for productive and sustainable packaging production. “The decision to make this investment is based on our commitment to operational excellence and technological leadership in the industry,” says Ashwani Sharma, president & CEO of Asepto. “The highly automated Boardmaster machines from Heidelberg offer exceptional productivity, consistently high print quality, and outstanding efficiency for high-volume production environments. This enables us to respond even more quickly to customer requirements while maintaining the highest standards of quality and performance.”

For Asepto, the installation of the two Boardmaster systems means more than just an expansion of its machine fleet. It is a strategic step toward securing the future of packaging production and further strengthening the company’s leadership in innovation.

Maximum productivity for the packaging industry

The Boardmaster was developed by Heidelberg specifically to meet the requirements of modern packaging manufacturers. The web flexo printing system enables production speeds of up to 600 meters per minute, automated defect detection, reduced makeready times, and an availability rate of up to 90%. Through automated job changes, intelligent process control, and the ability to operate with virtually no downtime, packaging manufacturers can significantly increase their overall equipment effectiveness.

“By choosing our Boardmaster technology, UFlex Asepto is sending a strong signal about the future of its industrial packaging production. The Boardmaster combines maximum productivity and quality with exceptional process stability,” says Dr. David Schmedding, CSO at Heidelberg. “At the same time, this investment underscores the strong growth of Indian packaging manufacturers, their increasingly significant role in the global market, and thus their potential for then core business of Heidelberg.”
