Uflex invests in laser scoring technology for flexible packaging solutions

-

Uflex has recently introduced laser scoring technology in India to incorporate easy to open features in packaging. The company has been the first one to launch this technology to provide flexible packaging solutions in India. By this sophisticated technology, the outermost layer of a laminate is engraved with laser beams.

The most important feature of flexible packaging is convenience of handing and is a vital part of the pack’s functionality. However, if packaging is compromised, its utility plunges and simultaneously erodes consumer’s faith and confidence and product’s brand image.

“With the help of the value added laser scoring technology we have offered easy to tear flexible packaging solutions to various FMCG brands of snack food, ketchups, condoms, pet food, tea, coffee, rice, spices etc. For a leading snack brand in India, we engineered a three layered laser scored diaphragm (opening) comprising PE/MET PET/PE which has spelled tremendous ease of opening for end-users. The demand for laser scored easy to open flexible packaging has been on a rise not only in India but in overseas as well,” said Arun Anand, executive vice president marketing at Uflex Packaging.

Almost every type of incision can be prepared with the help of this technology. A pre-defined part is created which guides the consumer to conveniently open the packaging. This has been done without altering the barrier properties required by the product packed inside.

The laser technology is capable of precise scoring process that adds suitable features which are not able to get through other mechanical processes. It also reduces the production time and patterns and design modifications can be done at once.
