[dropcaps style=’2′]Spectrra Prints based in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu, installed a brand new, fully-loaded, futuristic Heidelberg Speedmaster XL75, with Prinect press centre, Intellistart and wall screen option. “The investment in the XL75 strengthens our commitment to serve a diverse client base across various verticals, as we explore a foray into overseas markets. We continue to rely on Heidelberg for quality printing equipment,” said Senthil Kumar, managing partner at Spectrra Prints. An offshoot of 5-year old JGA Offset printing, Spectrra specializes in carton printing and packaging.[/dropcaps]

“The XL75’s make-ready can be as less as two minutes, with fully-automatic plate changes and the Intellistart 2,” said Kumar. The patented assistance system Intellistart 2 automatically generates all the steps required for intelligent job changes and provides maximum transparency across all active and queued processes, including complex make ready procedures.

The Peak Performance Speedmaster XL75 has the highest level of automation in its class, making it extremely user-friendly and economical. Highlighting the USP of the press, Saseendran Baskaran, general manager, press solutions at Heidelberg India, said, “The innovative Roller Check Assistant of the XL75 reduces reviews and adjustment of rollers by 30% compared to manual adjustment. The wash-up devices for blanket and impression cylinders reduce the consumption of washing fluid and wash-up cloth. The blanket and the impression cylinder are washed simultaneously in all units, thereby reducing wash-up times, as well. The wash-up device of the inking unit also works with reduced amount of water and washing fluid.”

Spectrra’s parent firm JGA Offset Printing owns a Heidelberg SM52 5-color and a Heidelberg 2-color press to cater to garment firms in and around Tirupur. Spectrra is a spin-off from JGA Offset Printing to capitalize on the huge demand for printed products for the garment industry, including tags, labels, wraps, packaging cartons etc. “It is very easy to stay loyal to the Heidelberg brand,” said Kumar. “Heidelberg’s appeal lies in authenticity, great service and incomparable quality standards. The XL75 is a right fit for our operational model that calls for shorter make-readies and the ability to accommodate a wide spectrum of substrates.”

The fully-automated Speedmaster XL75 minimizes operational footsteps and cuts make-ready, and setup times drastically. With production speeds of 15,000 sheets per hour, the Speedmaster XL75 can handle tags, labels and cartons, and any substrate from lightweight paper to board, ranging from 0.0012 to 0.031 inches.

Looking ahead, Kumar envisions significant growth potential for the packaging industry. “In a few years, we expect to expand our infrastructure to cater to other segments of the packaging industry, in addition to deepening our penetration into global markets. Spectrra Prints is uniquely positioned for continued growth and success, and Heidelberg will be our beacon, as we make progress in our chosen path and priorities,” concluded Senthil Kumar.
