Labelexpo Europe 2023: Bobst unveils label innovations and business strategy

At Labelexpo Europe 2023, Bobst has introduced cutting-edge innovations and strengthened strategic partnerships to simplify label production, aligning with its commitment to global expansion and delivering increased value to customers.

Bobst’s industry vision revolves around four key pillars – connectivity, digitalization, automation, and sustainability. These pillars guide its dedication to label innovation, emphasizing precision at full production speed. Notable innovations showcased include a digital label press and an inkjet module for high-opacity white printing.

Milestone achievement: Bobst has installed over 100 narrow-mid-web presses for labels and packaging in the past year, including more than 100 digital machines worldwide, reaffirming its commitment to offering a comprehensive portfolio of presses.

New partnership: Bobst has partnered with Visutech, a distributor for the Nordic countries, to better serve customers in the region. Visutech will represent Bobst’s complete narrow-mid-web product portfolio and provide local support and sales representation. The Visutech Digital Academy will play a vital role in educating the Nordic market about Bobst technologies. Strategic alliance: Bobst has formed a strategic partnership with Asteria Group, enhancing their mutual commitment to innovation. This collaboration includes Asteria’s investment in multiple Digital Master All-in-One production platforms throughout Europe, fostering groundbreaking label solutions and mutual growth.

Sustainability initiatives: Bobst introduces the oneECG process for extended color gamut printing, leading to significant savings in electricity, waste, and ink usage. Additionally, it has developed a linerless application process in collaboration with Avery Dennison, using ADLinrSave technology. Ink innovation: Bobst is set to launch the next generation of digital UV inks by early 2024, prioritizing environmental friendliness and regulatory compliance by eliminating hazardous materials.

New digital press – Digital Expert 340: This roll-to-roll label press operates at 65 m/min, upgradeable to 100 m/min, and offers the option to incorporate a flexo unit. Featuring Bobst’s unique 1200 x 1200 dpi inkjet cluster technology, it delivers enhanced performance and versatility.

High-Performance White Module: Bobst has unveiled a module for high-speed, high-opacity white printing, using Bobst Inkjet Technology, enhancing narrow web printing capabilities significantly. Visitors to the event can witness live demonstrations of the Bobst Digital Master 340 All-in-One label press, which combines digital, flexo, embellishment, die-cutting, and quality control modules for streamlined workflow. Bobst’s commitment to accessible automation and sustainability is exemplified through the high-end Bobst Master M6 flexo press, designed to reduce waste and enhance efficiency.

 In addition to these innovations, Bobst highlights its dedication to high-performance die-cutting solutions, color consistency through Accucheck Technology, and a unified HMI for streamlined press monitoring by a single operator. Several industry partners, including Esko, Scantrust, and Bel, join Bobst to underscore the importance of workflow excellence.
