Siam Toppan wins WorldStar Packaging Award

-

Siam Toppan Packaging, a Thailand-based subsidiary of Toppan, received a WorldStar Award in the Toys category at the WorldStar Packaging Awards 2026, organized by the World Packaging Organisation. The award ceremony took place on 8 May at interpack 2026, the international packaging industry trade fair held in DĂĽsseldorf, Germany. The win is the seventh WorldStar Award for Siam Toppan.

The award recognized packaging developed for One More Thai Craft Chocolates, a craft chocolate brand from Nakhon Si Thammarat in southern Thailand. According to the company, the design was created to express good health and happiness for local farmers.

The packaging draws on Nang Talung, the traditional shadow puppet theatre of southern Thailand. The front of the box features a three-layer theatre stage design. Six traditional characters can be torn out along perforations after the chocolates are consumed, and the outer box converts into a miniature stage set, allowing the packaging to be reused as a theatrical play kit.

The design uses only paper materials, with no plastic windows, making it fully recyclable. Its square shape is said to optimize space during transportation. The company says that by enabling reuse as a toy or decoration, the packaging contributes to waste reduction beyond its primary function.

The packaging also illustrates the traditional craft chocolate-making process, incorporating regional culture and the brand’s story. Toppan positions the pack as suitable for use as a souvenir or gift for visitors and international consumers.

Toppan describes its purpose as “Breathing life into culture, with technology and heart,” and states that its packaging business aims to balance environmental considerations with everyday life through design and technology.
